Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

No.

I'll do that now..?

Best?

jj thank you for the instructions, the 64-bit version works for me as well as the application box version 2.2 created by you, the only shortcoming is the change of the time on the application the change in sbitx_gtk.c even if I change lines 2300-2303 I don't know how I can make it activated!

Re: sBITX 32bit and 64bit Fork Available #sBitx #sBITX_v3

Is it faster? That depends on the Pi board. a 4gb or 8gb board will run faster than the stock 2GB version as supplied.

Can I run more applications? Utilizing more cores of the Pi CPU with multithreading is an advantage for 64bit applications that can be added to the "computer/sBitx"

Is it more stable? It is as stable as the 32bit version according to my testing and feedback from others.

Does it give me something I don't already have? Yes, my build includes additional ham related applications and the sBitx Toolbox apps preinstalled. The sBitx app has been patched to fix some nagging issues not addressed by the HF Signals team

Additional comments:
A major drawback to 32bit is that the operating system is no longer supported or developed as of June 2024. Over time, you will see 3rd party apps being developed for 64bit only thus leaving the old versions behind. Think of the Chrome browser on the 32bit version for example.. It is out of date and stopped being developed.

More importantly is the lack of security patches and fixes for the operating system. This device can connect to the network or internet and should have the latest security patches when doing so.

Ok.

An alternative is to follow the instructions here.???

The terminal is the >_ symbol on your desktop application bar.

Hope that helps

Re: sBITX 32bit and 64bit Fork Available #sBitx #sBITX_v3

So I have to ask, what are some of the advantages of a 64 bit release??

Is it faster?

Can I run more applications?

Is it more stable?

Does it give me something I don't already have?

With that said, I'm very thankful that people are taking the time to build and beta test a 64 bit version.

I don't know how to do it build it with the ./build sbitx command

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Hi Nick,

Have you done the voltage checks in the spreadsheet?

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Hi Evan,

I've replaced Q90 with a wired transistor.

Unfortunately, no change.

I can hear the relay, see a small, momentary deflection on the power meter, but that's it.

I'll double check the mosfets, but then what..?

Best,
N

Hi David,

I add more detailed instructions or a video and provide a link in the release notes. In the meantime, there basic instructions here??

Thanks for your feedback!

Re: Ubitx AGC board by Kit-Projects

Excellent work.? Just what I have been looking for.? ?Where does it connect into the V6.? Cant wait to see more details

Re: Ubitx AGC board by Kit-Projects

Francesco, I've been working on an ALC (Automatic Level Control) for the uBitx.? I have a uBitx 6 that I've installed it into.? I was surprised at how well it works.

Here's a video of it working in my uBitx 6:? ?

Tell me what you think of its performance.

I'm going to have circuit boards available for purchase in a couple of weeks.? All of the parts are 'standard' through-hole (no surface mount) except for the TDA7284, which is available on eBay from several sellers and through AliExpress.

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Thanks Evan. I'll check Q90.

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Nick,

It is best to get the uBitx transmitting CW and then work on SSB. Both modes use the same power amp sections.

The next most common problem after blown IRF510s is Q90. This transistor has been blown by having an antenna connected near another transmitter. A v4 spreadsheet in the files section gives voltage measurements for the different transistors. It applies to the v6, with only slight differences in the SSB sections.

/g/BITX20/files/VU2ZAP

The method of measuring is included in the text on the spreadsheet.

There is also a mod to protect Q90 with back-to-back diodes on the receiving line that are switched out when transmitting.? Here is a picture of a v4 that I modified:

The diodes are 1n4148.

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Hi Evan,

Fair point - uBitx v6 (I have a uSDX too...) is what we're looking at. It was a long day...

Output is near zero on all modes as measured into a dummy load. Whistling on SSB makes no difference, ditto key down on CW.

Best,
N

Re: UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Hi Nick,

Let's start by clarifying which radio it is. Is it a microBitx (uBitx) or a uSDX? They are different.

The next question would be the mode you use for the power test.? If it is SSB, there is no power unless there is audio.? What happens if you say a long HEEEEEELLLLLLLLOOOOOOOO (or a loud, long whistle) into the mic?? Also, are you connected to a dummy load or a matched antenna?

Hello.

I've made some changes to my build for sBitx with improvements contributed by myself and others. The repository can now be used on both the default, 32bit and 64bit versions of the sBitx transceiver.

Notable changes or improvements:
  • telnet fix
  • time zone RTC fix
  • macro button display fix
  • removal of non-working modes
  • FT8library compatible with 32 bit and 64 bit
  • update script changes

More improvements will be made as they are discovered.

UBitx v6 - no transmit power

Morning All, Firstly sorry to ask such an open, non technical questio, but asking it anyway...

After five months I turned on my uSDX v6 to find no transmit power, across modes and bands.

Looking at the meter, there's a momentary rise of the needle, then immediately drops back to zero.

Adjusting the trimmer does alter the extent of the momentary deflection a little.

I changed the IRF510s last night. This made no difference. It's possible the new mosfets are fakes, but unlikely - they were purchased from a retailer, not just from eBay.

Does anyone have an idea of where to start diagnosing the fault?

Thank you.

Best,
Nick

Re: sBitx v3

Be careful with double-clicking... in my experience it starts twice and incorrectly.

Re: Observations in sBitx v3

Divakar,
You don't have to think about complicated things.
I bought a , for which I bent an L shape from an aluminum plate to the two sides of the fan.
The fan and the plate are fixed together with screws.
It is wedged between the heat sink and can be removed at any time if necessary.

Ubitx AGC board by Kit-Projects

Hi everybody,?
I'm trying to find a different source of this AGC board? because by Kit-Project? will be no more available.
The files to do? the board are available on the link? thanks to David who gently make it available.

/g/BITX20/files/Kit-Projects

That was very nice and? easy to install because it was specifically design for ubitx .?

Do you have any? information where this AGC? can? be purchased ?

Thanks for your help
