Yes it did, but when straight into the program with 123, I did change it and that's where it seem to go wrong. I am still trying to find where the signal report is to reply to contacts, can't find it anywhere? I have to guess? Cheers.

In some future update the PW will not be asked when you log in on sBitx but only

when you login from a remote IP according to Farhan. Enclosed one example file from Thomas.

Re: SBITX V2 - DUAL MONITORS?

Hi Joe,

My pleasure.? I'm glad you acheived success.

Yes.? The map command gives no feedback.? I too touch the corner of the touchpad to verify operation.

I've not had issues with power output.? After calibrating the set, the Drive slider works great.? For WSJT software, I set th Pwr slider to the top and that works for me.? That said, I have noticed an interaction between the RPi volume settings and the sBitx slider settings.? I generally set the sBitx RF slider after the RPi audio settings and it works for me.

I've not looked in jtdx. Sorry.

Cheers, Scott? ?

Re: RF Output Power ubitx6 FW CEC V1.2 #firmware #ubitxv6-help

Mark,
Thanks for the catch!? I went back and opened the files again, and you are correct.

Andrea,
I apologize for the miss on my part.? Luckily there is a community of readers that can doublecheck our posts.?

Mark and I agree that a fresh load of the firmware followed by loading one of the non-zero saved Memory Manager files and then a recalibration is the best bet.?

Re: consistent sbitx failures

Since I don't currently have a usable antenna, I can't try it in practice.
What I have done are the actions that need to be done in the May 4th descriptions after the April delivery.
I'm always amazed at how you can get 40w on 80M and 40M when I have max. 25w was the maximum.
At that time, the value of Bridge was around 50-60, which was created by 'metercal'.
I would stick with bridge=100, but that has never worked for me. If I use default_hw_settings-ini, there is no output, only 3-5W max.

Last time I thought I'd look at the swr bridge diodes.
I unsoldered it and measured it: D28 opened at 858mV in the opening direction according to the DVM. D28 also leads in the closing direction.
Until then, I measured 297mV at D27. D27 does not lead in the closing direction.
I managed to get Tungsram OA1161 diodes (Germanium manufactured around 1960-70).
I measured several pieces for opening voltage (not selected for pairs) and replaced them.
There was no success. My output has decreased.
Maybe the ATtiny is also damaged by the D28?

So I'm in a dilemma too.

Re: sBitx-DE cw has sidebands--why?

Wow. I was busy with other issues and remember messages about ¡°spurs¡± but until I could get it running all that was secondary. I¡¯ll have to start digging through the messages. I did put a 680 uF electrolytic on the input and a 0.1 uF bypass capacitor in parallel because I thought noise spikes from the power supply might have been part of the cause of the many failures of all sorts of parts in the rig over time. And I have plenty of toroidal cores of different sizes and mixes lying around with which to put in a choke.

thanks,
Jack, N6LN

Re: The content of hw_settings.ini is incorrect #sbitx_v2

My problem has not been solved till today.
I thought that if the value of the bridge (default=100) is changed by the program (in my case, for example, to 59 or 64), then I should look for the cause around the diodes of the measuring bridge.
The measuring bridge has GE diodes marked 1N63 according to the schematic. This may be the same as the Tungsram OA1161 diode, which was produced 50-60 years ago. Since I managed to buy an unopened package of diodes, I was confident that this would solve the problem. But not.

I selected and replaced D27 and D28 for opening direction voltage only.
I measured it with a DVM at the time of removal and found that D28 had a much higher voltage in the opening direction (858mV) compared to D27 (297mV). Also, D28 leads in the closing direction.
According to the schematic it is in the FWD branch.
After the replacement, I checked the output power and it was lower.
My logic is that the ATtiny85 gives the output level control to the RPi via the IIC.
If the diodes are fine, there may be an additional error somewhere.

Should I look for the reason in the ATtiny?
Or am I not understanding things correctly?

Since I've been testing the device, the output level on 80M and 40M has never been higher than 25W. 17M-10M approx. 8-5 W.
At that time, the scale value was high on all bands and the bridge value was also set to around 50-60 by the meter.

The values stored in hw-settings.ini were always higher than the default. That's why I gave the above title to the topic.

Re: RF Output Power ubitx6 FW CEC V1.2 #firmware #ubitxv6-help

Evan,

A nit that unfortunately probably doesn't help the OP...? But I only see all zeros on 20230108.btx.? 20230405.btx and 20230408.btx look valid to me in both the old memory manager and my Settings Editor.? Perhaps you read in 20230108?twice? The calibration data for x405 and x408 are within the "legal" bounds of a V6. (not that this means they are good calibration....)

Andrea, t
The best approach is to follow Evan's suggestion. That would be my first choice if I was in your position.? But if you *really* hit a dead end, another option is to try the calibration wizard that is part of CEC V2 beta/Settings Editor. See the youtube playlist:?

The power plug is 2.1/5.5 mm barrel connector.? Tip is positive.? This is a very common connector - should be able to get it at any decent electronics parts store.? Power supply should be able to furnish 3 amps.

Re: SBITX V2 - DUAL MONITORS?

Scott,

Don't know how you figured it out but it works.. Ctrl, TX, rx.

Questions:
1. When I run the map command, it appears to run with no errors but after I enter the command there is no feed back.
Is that normal?
Not really an issue? as I find I can select touch screen or monitor for operation.

2.? I have not been able to find which ctrl I can use? beside? rf tx drive to control the audio tx level. I mention this because when I use sbitx thru browser I have much higher tx output.

3. I am thinking of running jtdx, have you ever tried that? on the sbit radio?

Thank again for your help.

I run a dual Hamstick antenna in a dipole configuration in my attic.? Because of local limitations, it is not ideal but as solar conditions favor, I can easily make 100+ connections per sessions.? A better antenna/location will greatly improve performance but I have to figure a way to conceal it from view.

I also use a ATU-100 EXT antenna tuner.? SWR is typically 1.0-1.2.? sBitx Watt and SWR indications agree with ATU indications within about 10%.

I am running a DE version with all mods and latest firmware.? After latest hardware mod, I lost a set of finals.? Turns out I neglected to tighten heat sink clamp enough.? After replacement, heat sink got much hotter during digital operation (expected).? I added a small 90mm "muffin" style fan to cool heat sink externally.? Heat sink used to get pretty warm to hot without fan but now with fan, no noticable heat buildup.? I like passive cooling as a design element but I might engineer a thermo controlled fan for extra protection later.

Good luck, Scott

Re: sBitx-DE cw has sidebands--why?

Jack,

We traced a thread on the 50kHz issue to the replacement regulator.? For my DE, I had to install an LC filter on the output and a large capacitor on the input to the regulator.? This eliminated the spur.? We found the spur using a spectrum analyzer.

/g/BITX20/message/100192

There are over 300 posts about many things, not all just for the spurs.? The bottom line is that the capacitor and lc filter solved it for me.

sBitx-DE cw has sidebands--why?

After successfully adding an swr bridge to the sBitx DE I was using an oscilloscope to calibrate the power output. The sine wave looked unstable. I put my sBitx V2 on and the sine wave looked fine, as did a similar check of my cw output from my IC-7600. Then I compared the cw output of my DE and then my V2 on my 7600's spectrum analyzer waterfall.
The V2 output looked clean, but the cw carrier from my DE has sidebands! Please see the oscilloscope screen grabs and the photos of the IC-7600 display. The sidebands are about 25 KHz apart. This is something I've got to solve, especially on FT8.
Does anyone have an idea how these are generated and what to do about them?
Thanks,
Jack, N6LN
