No Sideband Tx but CW seems to work
#sbitx_v2
Straight out of the box I hooked up to LiFePo battery and mag loop antenna. I can hear 20 m CW and sideband and get TX power out onCW but not seemingly on usb. I tried adjusting the drive and tried both the built in mic and the supplied mic, but no joy. Appreciate any suggestions.? also is there a tutorial on how to navigate thru the screen? Reed AA1RB |

It was great meeting you Pete, however briefly. - f On Fri, May 19, 2023, 5:43 PM Pete <pete4330@...> wrote: After a family emergency I made it to the Hamvention just long enough to unload mobility scooter meet up with Farhan and his wife? |

Pick up my new sBITx radio? Load up my scooter and head home to rest.?? I'm happy to say Farhan was looking great and the crowd around his booth was huge? Pete KB8EMD |
Re: #sbitx disk image for software v2.1
#sBitx
Success with a 64GB card. I can assert that the software definitely loads on a Pi 3B+.??
At the moment I only have the Pi and display and no other hardware. The radio interface doesn't come up, but I didn't actually expect it to.? I'm going to investigate modding my uBitx.? Ore may break down and buy the board only. 73, Dean KK4DAS |
I have been checking for updates and doing the update build the recommended way from the original SD card I have (./update from inside sbitx folder). pi@sbitx:~/sbitx $ ./update ? ? |

Farhan,
So what is the power calibration procedure on a DE sBitx using this image file? There is no SWR bridge in mine or internal power meter, so whats the best way to calibrate. Joel N6ALT |

several times looking for Farhan. His booth is in building 5 #5304, but the space was empty. He mentioned in another post that he would be there? Wednesday and Thursday. I have two people looking for him today at the Hamvention. has anyone on this site heard from him? Pete KB8EMD |
Re: Death by calibration

Bob, 1. If you have a dummy load, attach it to the radio,? 2. On sbitx, scroll down to open the console, in the console command line, type "txcal", wait for it to cycle through it for? a minute or so 3. the rig should now be on full power. Remember, this works only on a dummy load. - f On Fri, May 19, 2023, 6:34 AM Raj vu2zap <rajendrakumargg@...> wrote: Bob, Farhan and co. |

I think it would be wise to add a thermal mechanical switch to disconnect power from rig when the heat sink become too hot. This is the only way to prevent these blow outs. or Normally closed, 60 or 70C in series with power supply wire. Raj On 19/05/2023 3:47 PM, Bob Benedict, KD8CGH wrote:

1. Both, the sBITX and the external meter agree at about 22 watts 2. I tried to be clear that I abused the sBITX by repeatedly holding the key down while trying to record power and current against time. At first I periodically checked the heat sink but then got absorbed in the task. When it blew the heat sink was very hot - it was doing its job. 3. OK My question was about debugging now. With the new RF power transistors in and bias carefully readjusted I only see 22 watts out. -- 73 ??? Bob? KD8CGH |
Re: Spurious RF at beginning of CW transmission in the uBitx
I installed a 2N7000 as you suggested.
It has definitely got rid of the spurious RF on CW but I noticed that there is now some spurious RF at the beginning of transmission when on SSB. Not as bad as it was on CW, but it is there on SSB. I have left it installed as I think it is the lesser of two evils. Thanks for the help. Cheers Deab |
