Re: Sbitx v2 without touchscreen?
Indeed, one can use the v2 from any device in the world by using a VPN.

Btw, you can use the v2 from any device on the same wifi as the radio. You dont need an hdmi cable. |
Re: Using an external HDMI TV Monitor
Another layer of audio never helps. Better stick with pure alsa only. What exactly do you need Ashhar? Alsa has plugins for almost everything, with different level of performance and efficiency. Pulseaudio is really evil indeed...

Re: Cooling RPi4 in Sbitx
My radio has been running continuously for the last one week, this is our peak summer, with temperatures soaring to 38 c. The shack's air conditioner is in on only about 3 hours day. It has run without problem. - f On Sat, Apr 15, 2023, 6:07 PM HA3HZ <gyula@...> wrote:

Cooling RPi4 in Sbitx
The question whether the RPi4 should be installed without cooling or with cooling does not let us rest. I looked through several test descriptions, where they show measurements depending on the number of processors / CPU frequency used and with different cooling solutions. The point is that there can be a difference of up to 30 degrees C with or without the refrigerator. In the state without a cooler, 85-88 degrees Celsius is also possible. While the most effective passive cooling is 50-63 degrees Celsius. Since I used an RPi400 so far, I have no experience, but I think that some kind of cooling is necessary. (I don't mean the 3 small cooling surfaces) I'd like to hear other people's opinions and experiences. -- Gyula HA3HZ |
Re: new sBitx software
Bill, New features, possible bugs fixes (it could happen) and tweaks can be done by new software release.? To make and store software backup is not necessary but always good - the same like with your PC.? You do not need to update your radio regularly but it is good to have chance to do it if it¡¯s suitable for you based on new software release note.? I have my Elecraft K3 from 2008. There were dozen of software updates released during years and I updated it several times but I do not have latest release simply because last few updates did not bring anything useful for me. No bugs fixes just added few things which I will never use it¡ Its my 2c opinion;) |
Re: new sBitx software
Bill, First, as it is shipped, you keep operating as it is shipped. It wont die on you. You are at liberty to upgrade or not. I guess for you, you can upgrade once a year to get the latest features in. The website to go to, in the future (not very active now) would be .? Yes, the touchscreen does everything, you need a mouse if you are not using a touch screen and using an HDMI display instead. - f On Sat, Apr 15, 2023, 6:27 AM bill steffey NY9H <ny9h@...> wrote:

Re: new sBitx software

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýI was wishing just to do some operating....as opposed to worrying about downloading new os ups whatever.? How does one determine if it is appropriate to
download a new thing. To keep v2 going.
Seems that v2 stuff is intertwined with bitx older
units softwares..confusing!
does the v2 touchscreen do everything ?? sounds like
need to use a mouse in addition to the screen... ????
Maybe someday V2 will be big enough to have its own
reflector? ???
Is there some site other than reading emails to
choose to upload...and how to upload stuff for v2 ???? These are
my questions?
tnx

Re: new sBitx software
Perfect Farhan.? It would be great to have dedicated place (repo?) where we could find complete image of latest version of SBITX V2 software to burning it on SD card for quick replacing in radio whrn some changes done, as same as for making backup SD card. - P |
Re: Needed: replacement PA transformer for sBitx (T8)
Thanks Mick. I knew the description was somewhere. If it happens again I have eight FT50-43 toroids in my junk box and I¡¯ll build a new, bigger transformer. I¡¯m assuming that mine failed during normal operation but with bad luck, and that a bigger one with 3 turns of Teflon wire would perform similarly but with a greater safety margin. If that¡¯s not a reasonable assumption I¡¯d appreciate further advice. The larger transformer would not fit in the same space and would require a few millimeters of standoff space and therefore longer leads, but with luck it might not cause any additional problem¡ªafter all it¡¯s not a VHF device¡at least not intentionally! |
Re: Remote Audio sBitx v2
I am pretty good with audio programming. I wrote voip protocols, switches and clients in a previous life, but the webrtc is just too restrictive for my liking. Never the less, there is a simplicity to being just able to open and url on any device and dx. So, no clients, just the web ui. - f On Fri, Apr 14, 2023, 11:28 PM Ashhar Farhan via <farhanbox=[email protected]> wrote:

Re: Remote Audio sBitx v2
30 seconds! For me it is almost instantaneou. You can turn down the volume slider. It doesnt affect the remote audio (it is a feature). The remote audio is controlled by the device audio control. Remote Audio sBitx v2
I see (and hear) that remote receive audio has been enabled in the latest v2 software (very nice).
I am running remotely with Safari on a Mac Mini M1. I hear the audio clearly in the Mac speakers, but it is delayed by 30 seconds. The reason that I know it is delayed that I also hear the audio coming from the radio's speaker. Is there a way to mute the radio audio when running remotely? -- 73, Mark, N8ME |
