Mark,
I mean the selected area is bigger than what was produced on the screen. try to select a smaller area.

Re: Homebrew SBITX - first contract! #homebrew #sBitx

Charudatt,
You solved the smaller size, I think single-lane version, skillfully. Since I have some parts that are needed here, I would like to build it. If you have a spare set of pcbs, I would buy them. I mean the motherboard and the additional filter. If possible, in a soothing color (blue is suitable). If you reply, choose the direct message for this post.

Re: sBitx just came .. hooked up.. no rx :-(

Hello,

Good to know that this is not your usual radio. This is an RPi controlled sdr radio, the soul of which is Raspverry pi 4B.
It should be noted that it uses Raspbian 10, i.e. Buster OS, which works a little differently than the usual PC.
Here you have to wait until the time noted at the previous shutdown changes to the current one, which can be up to two minutes depending on the server.
Since it's a tiny computer, you have to wait for it to recover.

I have been using it since mid-November 2023 in ft8 mode with more or less success.
Since I've had it since last April, I made some hardware modifications, but due to lack of antenna and free time, that was all I did.
The software changed to v3.0 in mid-November 2023, which I use on the gtk-ui screen with the 7" LCD display.
Fortunately, I have some active programmers who have made changes, so I use v3.02.

What I've experienced is the recommended thing when you first turn it on:
Always use a current-limiting power supply. In my case, the output stage is FET IRFZ24Z, which is more sensitive to the input voltage,
so I use it from 12.5V and limit the current to 6.00A.

There are currently over 1600 FT8 QSOs from 99 dxcc areas.
My output power is 15 watts at 7 MHz, 20 watts at 14 MHz and 10 watts at 21 MHz.
Since my antenna is a vertical inclined loop antenna sized for 7MHz, I can use it on these bands.

It's important to treat the device like a male egg.
So he can be sensitive to things if you don't treat him like that.
You need to learn the access options of the RPi OS, learn to use the File Manager and your life will be easier.
If you are interested in what I changed, you can find it in the forum search in the messages.

Thank you for appreciating the design. This board was drafted in KiCAD software.

?

This is made using 1/8W TH resistors and capacitors.

?

This is only the exciter board and I share a PIC in comparison with the original

That's a nice looking board.? I have not made PCBs like that.? ?I've started to learn how a couple of time but get a little lost when going from schematic to layout. And the parts choosers don't? seen all that intuitive.? What design and layout software do you use?? For prototyping I have grown to prefer Manhattan style construction.? Having all the connections easily visible on the top of the board makes diagnosing and rework very easy..

I'd love to hear how you are progressing with your build, so keep us posted.

Re: sBITX touchscreen calibration help

Yes owner group is root root

am I correct in assuming the fact that the xinput_calibration doesn¡¯t pick up the calibration numbers I added to the 99-Calibration file mean that it ?was not found?

Hi Charudatt

?Where did you get the 40MHz xtal filter from? I¡¯m guessing that¡¯s what the blue add on board is.

Has anyone else built a homebrew SBITX to this stage?? Or I get to take a victory lap as the first homebrew SBITX to achieve transceive???

Hi Mark.

Is the owner/group root:root for the calibration file?

sBITX touchscreen calibration help

Looking for some guidance here...
My touchscreen calibration is off to the left and slightly high. So to hit the IF button, I actually have to click the Drive button.

I have installed xinput_calibrator and ran it. It reports:
current calibration values: min_x=0, max_x=65535 and min_y=0, marx_y=65535

And it provides me new values that are supposed to go into either /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf or in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/99-calibration.conf
OK, so I add the new values to *both* places. Checked the permissions and they are similar to other startup files. rw r r.

Reboot, and no change to calibration.
Run xinput_calibrator again, and it still reports:
current calibration values: min_x=0, max_x=65535 and min_y=0, marx_y=65535

So obviously I must be putting the calibration in the wrong place since it is not picked up by xinput_calibrator and there is NO change to my touchscreen calibration.??

Anybody been down this path before and can provide me with some hints?

Re: sBitx just came .. hooked up.. no rx :-(

I would think that a valid update for sbitx would be a wait screen while the computer finishes boot up, keeping it in pause until the final boot completes.? How to accomplish that? I have no idea! ?

Re: sBitx just came .. hooked up.. no rx :-(

I have noticed, on mine, if I open the app too soon after boot up,? it is just pulsing static. If I close it and reopen, it starts working right. I guess count to 10 first?

Re: Antenna's (HamSticks), battery clips and tuners

I have them for 80 though 10 for the truck, and pairs for 20 and 10 dipoles.

The ones for 40 and 80M I tune them different than instructions.
I keep the whips full length and slit the heat shrink over the oil and take
turns off as needed to tune them where I want.? More height less coil
is better if only incremental.

Oh de W2JON btw

sBitx just came .. hooked up.. no rx :-(

Hey gang I've been anxiously stalking DHL and today the sBitx came!
I hooked it to my Astron which is outputting 13.8v .. first start up I opened the sbitx software and hear just cracking static.. sort of sounds like the noise old AM radios would make with a car that has noisy ignition wires.
did the obligitory \callsign and \grid, but nothing is coming in..

I hooked to an inverted L and then my passband dipole.. no change with the so239 connected or not.?
The only variations I see are when I play with the IF gain. .other than that no dice.

Any suggestions?

Re: Line input direct to WM8731 pin 19

Thanks - I'll give it a go over the weekend and report back.

#sBitx Did you know? #sBitx

Did you know you can slide your finger left or right on the bottom of your sBitx? V3.02 screen down by the TX RX buttons and it will do the the same thing as turning the MFK? I don't know whether this a feature or a mistake but it's kind of cool anyway.
