Re: sBitx original GUI CW input device with V2 software

Ashar,

No, I didn't know that that was a feature.?

It does make operating with the touchscreen easier.

Re: Taxes for UE

Hi all,

the same here. I paid 30% extra cost from total cost of package for VAT+DHL custom clearance fee. There is no chance to help or change it I guess. There was no TAX cause of ham radio gear but somebody need to pay the VAT when it is coming to EU¡
So even although I paid additionally 140€! ¡I wanted the radio so I accepted it.?

I don¡¯t think that Farhan or HFSigs team can do something in this case. ?

Re: Taxes for UE

Hi Ashhar and group

For sBITX W/o Raspberry I just pay 97 € VAT and DHL fee? Its "fine", no customs tax I suppose is because its a kit.
Since July? 2021 in France with E Sales we have to pay VAT from the first Euro!!
?There is nothing to do unfortunatly
Thnaks for the job!

Re: Taxes for UE

With the regulatory environment in the EU, producing the sBITX there would likely not reduce the costs in any meaningful way.? Paying duties, etc. on the parts you would need to import would also add to costs.? It is also doubtful that PCB manufacturing would be as reasonable.

Re: Taxes for UE

Thank you Ashhar, I think it would not solve the problem, because VAT and duties are proportional to the amount. It could even increase the cost due to the fixed expenses of DHL's management.
In my case I have already paid for it, for the next time (I hope there will be) we will have to think about something.
?
Rather, I was referring to whether there would be any possibility of manufacturing a part in any EU country. I have no idea what volume we'd be talking about.

Can we split the bill for the radios for EU? Will that make?a difference? Write to sales@... offline

Taxes for UE

Buenos d¨ªas,

I enjoy and have enjoyed HFSignals radios a lot, I have a uBitx v6, an sBitx DE and now a sBitx v2 board, but customs duties and VAT are making it very difficult for me to continue buying these products.
The sBitx V2 board is about €300 plus customs duties and VAT that I just paid is another €96 for Spain. Too much money for me.
?
I wonder if there would be a way to produce the product within the EU to bring the price down a bit.
?
For the rest, I spend many good times with these radios.

Re: sBitx V2 FT8

Mark?
All the ft8 processing is done in javascript in web/index.html in a function called FT8_process_message.
I have written it very simply so we can hack it better. Take a back-up and fiddle with it.
I wasn't sure of how many times should one repeat a message, it can be added very?easily.
I will fix this over?the weekend. Today is Eid, so the shack at home and the HF sigs are both closed today.

I click to check the Auto box, then click on a callsign. The software waits until the next time slot then transmits a call to that station. If they don't answer me, it doesn't repeat the call. How do I get the radio to repeat the call?

Also, I think I am calling the other station at the same time that he is calling. For example, suppose he transmits his CQ at :00. I see it decode at some time after :15 and click on it. The radio waits until :30 to send my call to him. At that point, he is probably transmitting again, so he won't see my call.

Re: sBitx V2 FT8

Hi Lou,

The short answer is no, I have not tried it.? I have tried running WSJT-X, which came with the Sbitx OS image.? It is not the full WSJT-K, as none of the auto messages are filled out.? I could load up the RPi version but lose it when I upgrade to the V2 image.??

I will wait for the V2 image posting before doing more on the Sbitx.? I have a fishing trip and a uBitx project for a friend that will keep me occupied until the image is posted.

Re: sBitx V2 FT8

Evan,
Have you tried "wsjt-x improved"?? The AL version is for smaller screens.? I have not tried it on the pi but I have run the regular version.

Add to the frustration the WSJT-X installed on the HFSignals image does not have a full WSJT-X install.? The auto-generated messages are blank.

I am waiting for the V2 image to be posted so I can start from scratch.? Farhan has announced that he is doing away with the gtk screen, so a new code base is coming.? I think my Sbitx needs to return to the shelf until the v2 changes settle down.? At least until the image is posted, then I will try to make this DE as close to the V2 as possible.

Sbitx v2 RTC

My v2 arrived today and after installing the rpi4 I noticed that the rtc battery ( I assume) is missing or not shipped. Do I need to buy a battery? What size - 2032?

Re: conect

You will need either a raspberry pi touch display, or a regular hdmi monitor with mouse and keyboard.

Re: sBitx original GUI CW input device with V2 software

Mark,
You can just grab some clear part of the screen and drag it up with touch much like your iphone.
Have you tried that?

The HTML interface is nice, but it is a cumbersome on the internal touchscreen especially if you don't use a mouse?as the display is taller than the screen and you have to use the vertical scroll bar. One advantage of the old ui was that it fit nicely on the touch screen.?
