Re: AGC

Do Osho people also do quantity orders? At HF Signals, they would love to try out the purple pcbs.

Not affiliated, just happy when an order from the Great North Wet works out better than my usual PayPal transfers to JLCPCB. (I just have to keep from humming the Barney song when working on the purple boards hihi)

I'm not a fan of AGC as a rule. I'm going to build a partial board just for the S-meter feed into my TSW Teensy 4.1 controller.

Yikes!? That's really cold. The cold is one of the main reasons I left Michigan, however, -40 is miserable.

Don't worry about when.? Easter is fine.? We'll work it out.

Stay warm!

Re: #sbitx upgrade kit 2 is on the way #sBitx

Upgrade kit #1 was the switching regulator, plus a couple of replacement final transistors in case you needed them. People who received early units from the Developers Edition received that kit. Later shipments of the Developers Edition came with the regulator already installed; people who received those did not get a separate upgrade.

Scott - I guess you've been following the progress on the upgrade kits.? I may not be able to ship before Easter, even if I have the kit.? My mobility is a medical scooter, & it's not really manageable on Winnipeg streets in the winter, so I may have to wait until I can get to the courier or post office.? Also, I don't like the idea of going out when wind chills are -40 (C or F - they're both the same).

A late Merry Christmas

This was a major slip up from HF Signals side. We are new of the USA postal system and didnt figure it out what needed to be done. So sorry about it and seasons greetings!

Next sBITX batch - New uBITX builder

Good Morning and Merry Christmas,

I was just curious as to a general time frame of the next batch of
sBITX kits being available for ordering? Reading more about it as I
have time as well as reading up on the uBITX.

I just ordered my uBITX kit with the screen option, a little over a
week ago (December 15) and am awaiting its arrival, so I can begin
construction. I have my own enclosure and knobs. I ordered from
Amazon and got an QRP automatic antenna tuner kit to assemble to go
with the uBITX. I just got it yesterday. I am also considering a 50W
amplifier to go with it later.

Building and experimenting is what got me into amateur radio in 1989,
with emergency communications being a close second main interest. I
just do not get to build as much as I would like. I may have dumb
questions, but I have heard that the only dumb questions, are the
one's that are not asked

Re: #sbitx: wishlist

Has anyone developed a mod in hardware and/or software for a tune button other than the clumsy VW mode option? If so, I cannot find it. Also, a way to limit power output to 3-5 watts would be nice.

Re: Best Source for 5vdc on uBitx v6 #ubitxv6

I added a 5 inch Nextion screen as well as a second Nano, AGC and the Funtronics board. The 7805 was getting very hot so I added another 7805 with its own heat sink. For me that was the simplest solution.

Re: #sbitx upgrade kit 2 is on the way #sBitx

Hi Lou,

I too share your concern but I can think of numerous reasons for last minute impacts to a shipping schedule that may not have been communicated to Thomas, etc.? My guess is the kits did not make it out the door on the 10th, a Saturday, and actually got into the system on the 13th or 14th.? That puts them right in the middle of peak the Christmas demand.? Not knowing who the carrier is, I can only guess that it was USPS, thus the delay.

In my previous life, I often arranged for "emergency" and "critical need" material.? Even in those overnight or dedicated courier shipments, things happen.? I was just curious if anyone waiting (like me), had received their kits, not to blame anyone but to simply get a sense of timing.? I know these things are dynamic and often, out of the shipper's control.

I will drop a note when I receive my kit in Florida.? I hope others will do the same.

Cheers, Scott?

Re: #sbitx upgrade kit 2 is on the way #sBitx

First I am very grateful?for how Ashaar and Thomas have supported this effort going above and beyond and not asking a penny for the upgrades, thank you.? But I do not understand the delay.? I have received many christmas?cards and packages from NJ in the last week and from the postmark none of them took more than a week to get here in TX.? I don't understand the delay.

Re: Best Source for 5vdc on uBitx v6 #ubitxv6

Hello Doug,

I have done the mods that you are looking at on a V6 with a 2.8" Nextion display.? The stock 5volt regulator was used, taking the 5 volts for the S-Meter amp off the encoder pin connector on the Raduino board.? I would not recommend the Raduino regulator as the source to power another Nano if you are looking at that solution from KD8CEC or going to a larger screen.? For either case, I would add a second 5-volt regulator mounted to the case to dissipate the extra heat.

An alternative might be a switching regulator for all of the 5-volt power mounted in place of the 7805, the stock regulator.? That solution is being used on the sBitx, so I would assume that RF noise is not an issue.

Have fun with the mods!

It should have been "first uBitx," not "first uBotx"
