Sure, it'll work fine. Pick an electret mic type that Ashhar has
blessed, and adjust the mic wiring appropriately. I think you can put the DC voltage onto the "hot" audio lead of the 3-wire XLR interface. I've never tried it but I happen to have a rather nice XLR mic and audio processing unit that came in a station purchase, and when I prep my Heath DX-100 for operation, I'll definitely use this mic when I'm not using one of my Astatic D-104s with a new electret element. I'd mention -- back in the day I made a 5-pin DIN mic switchbox so I could test and use all the old CB mics I'd collected over the years on my Atlas 210X. Being able to switch mics on the fly was fun, and it sometimes confused toe ham on the other end of the QSO. 73 Jim N6OTQ |

Allison,
Thank you for responding.??I did remember the discussion.? That was before the latest announced changes to the TR switching.? ?I was checking to make sure the 2n7000 was still needed.? Per the prior information provided, I thought it was still a good thing to have. Maybe Farhan will update the schematic with both of us commenting. As always, I appreciate all of the free knowledge that you share.? It helps me learn more about RF circuits and RF design. 73 Evan AC9TU |

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýHi I am Preston Roberts, I run a YouTube channel focusing on Technology. I would love to showcase the Sbitx on my channel but I don't know who I need to talk to about getting a demo unit in here to Review.? Thanks again ETA PRIME? Preston Roberts? Email: etaprime@...? |

Evan, the 2n7000 is the complment of the pmos switch that ensbles +12 to the tx bias. The nmos part is used to rapidly pull that line to ground. ? It was discussed maybe 3 months ago.? |

At first glance, this looks great!? ? Thanks very much will be waiting to get this done over the Christmas holidays here.? ?In 5.2 you use the word "scrap"? whereas in American-eze I think it would be "scrape"? ?to scrape off a bit of masking. Looks very "do-able" to me.? ? I'll be excited to get back to work on it after spending a lot of time working with VARA-C and VHF digipeating and helping members of our group?figure out soundcard systems...... Gordon? Farhan,
On the sBitx that I received, there is a 2n7000 MOSFET soldered on the underside of the main board.? I have not been able to find it on the schematics.? Is it required?? If so, the schematic should be updated.? Here is a picture I took before I removed it when it was blown with my failed software-based sequencing mode: 73 Evan AC9TU |

Peeps, Sorry for the inordinate delay. We were awaiting?a shipment from Mouser that too days to arrive with IRFZ24Ns. The upgrade kit will be picked up by the courier tomorrow and everyone who has an sbitx will receive the kit in about?2 weeks from now. I have an old XLR microphone. Its body of it is in good shape. Could I get an electret microphone element and redo the workings of it??

You are making sense. The ubitx is designed for an electret microphone. This is the easiest type to use. Traditional older microphones are dynamic, different principle and it requires added circuitry to function. Read the wiki article on electret. I am thinking everything in my shack is electret. Got a powered desk mike, ten tec. My favorite now is a PC headset, wired up adapters to use it with 2 of my rigs. I use a foot switch, music store type a LA amazon for PTT.? I don't know if you can find an electret in that traditional form, maybe.? With my v4 ubitx I still use an old HT speaker mike which does well in my case, no amplifier or speech processor yet.? If you don't want to mod your ubitx stick with electret.? Curt |

Hey everyone, it's been a bit. Still stuck in bed and it is truly driving me crazy. Got a microphone question about choosing a microphone for the uBITX v6.?
On my previous v6 I had a??that i modified for my uBITX v6. Now I do not remember where I got the instructions on modifying it.? This time round I would like to have a traditional type microphone and PTT switch. Has anyone come up with a mic that works with the uBITX?? What I mean by a traditional type microphone that looks like this: I'm not sure of the different types like condensor and electrict just mainly something that will work with the uBITX v6? Right now I am adrift in an endless ocean of pain with some prescription medication so I'm not really sure if I am making any sense.? -- '72 Aaron K5ATG |
Re: sBitx #sBitx PA MOD Plan

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThere are some of us who are incapable of handling the upgrade of the early sBIT.? I am one of them.? Perhaps some of our more capable users would, for a fee, handle this for us.? I know I would be willing to pay shipping both ways to someone who would do mine, plus something to reimburse him (or her) for the time spent. Hi Evan,
It does receive but it is off the frequency is slightly off.? I'll try a calibration since I did change the nano when I changed software. If that doesn't get me anywhere I'll look at those voltages.?? Thanks, 73 Spencer VA3SPN |
Re: Ubitx v6 No Output on SSB

Hi Spencer,
Does the v6 receive as expected?? The most likely issue is that it is not calibrated correctly.? This is most likely the case if you changed the Nano when you installed the KD8CEC software.? The calibration data is stored in the EEPROM that, is not updated when you download the program, and stays with the Nano. The next most likely issue would be the mic preamp, Q6.? You can use the v4 voltage spreadsheet to check the transistors of proper dc bias voltages provided by VU2ZAP: /g/BITX20/files/VU2ZAP 73 Evan AC9TU |
