The Daylight Radio

Dear fellow builders,

Does anyone have the .STL files for making the coil winding forms for the coils in the Daylight radio.? I am also looking fore the .STL file for 3D printing of the fixture for the VFO tuning mechanism.? I expect that they were published some where and I just missed them.?? I am trying to get organized to use the DAYLIGHT RADIO as a CLUB BUILDERS GROUP PROJECT and need these files so we can start the project.

Any help in locating them is very appreciated.

Re: Turn off WiFi on your sBitx

Hey All,

The intermittent wifi noise does stop when the wifi is turned off on my sbitx. ?However, when sbitx is simply running (sbitx software not running), there is a constant, low to medium volume, low frequency oscillation that is not affected by audio controls. ?Once the sbitx software is executed, the oscillation is less noticeable.

Is this what you guys are talking about? ?

Re: Sbitx group

Some of my groups are moving to discord. Lots of real-time features.
But¡I hear there¡¯s a downside.

Re: Haako 20% off, Tuesday, August 9

Don,
Do you know the product line?
I¡¯m looking at the FX-951 Solder station. Just looking.
Tips are extra. What general purpose tip do you recommend? I can¡¯t really decide from the photos.
Thanks,
Bob

Haako 20% off, Tuesday, August 9

For those who are fans of Hakko products, or want to check them out for the first time, Hakko is having a one day 20% off anniversary sale on August 9th, 2022.

Use coupon code HAKKO20, at . Sale starts at 12:01 AM PDT and runs 24 hours. Unfortunately, it does appear hakko usa only ships from their website to US and Canada, does not appear they do any international sales or shipping, so I apologize for this message applying to just a subset of group members.

That is great, Ashhar.? ?I'm teaching two courses in high school (in my RETIREMENT! -- I'm nuts) and won't be able to get to this for a few days, but excited to see the progress.? I'm looking forward to a lot of fun? ? My days are crammed full at the age of 66-3/4 just trying to get everything ready for chemistry/physics students, repairing? a Winlink RMS antenna, fishing, and keeping a ham radio group plunging forward.? ?Wrote one book so far this year -- a high school chemistry lab manual on Amazon.

Re: #sbitx FT8 library integrated #sBitx

I forgot to add sbitx-ft8.c to git. The executable sbitx will work anyway. I will update the git in a few hours.

The new library will appear as a sub-folder inside the sbitx folder (/home/pi/sbitx/ft8_lib).
So, just execute "git pull" from inside the sbitx folder to get the new image.
I have a side query. When we reply to a CQ on FT8, we call on the frequency of the contact, right? I just want to be sure. People on 21 MHz seemed to be avoiding my replies.

Re: Does anyone have the KD8CEC 5 inch nextion files?

John

i assume you have brightness at max? There was some traffic on that causing noise. ?But I thought that was rf noise picked up through the audio of the ubitx and not just direct from the screen.?

Re: sBitx antenna-first warning

Tom wb6b is correct.
run voltmeter along the line to measure the peaks and minimums .
Also, just because you get 1:1 doesnt mean your antenna is efficient. proving this, take a field strength meter and go plot your minimal and maximum readings from it out in the field with various settings. You can have a 1:1 and have a signal that cant make it out of the county if your feed system and antenna is crappy.Or poorly set up or calculated wrong Also you can prove this by received reports on air , , Also the lower the noise level on receive when adjusting a match, means usually you are closer to a match for the radio.Meaning the received signal will be coming in louder and clearer. Just my own experience with my own equipment.

This is my experience with my own homebrewed equipment,.

Re: sBitx antenna-first warning

I also remember, that noobies like myself back in the day,ran both tube and solid state equipment. If i remember, 50 ohms was predominantly a VHF issue. Might be wrong.Even on a solid state transceiver, i never had a commercial transmatch or "tuner".?? we all used the simple swr meter, volt meters and ammeters ,light bulbs and neon bulbs,or homebrewd match or used other tricks? like a homebrewed field strength meter to prove our antennas were up to snuff., . I remember climbing? the ladder to the pulley where my inverted vee was mounted, lowing it,cutting off about a 1/4" to 1/2" at a time on each side.,. one ham i knew used flurecent light bulbs also. kind of a field strength meter. And this was with solid state rigs .Most of his station was homebrewed.

Long way away from instant gratification on a meter that might not be telling you the whole story. old technology it might be but its still applicable today.Dont trust your meter. double verify. With the money we spend on our equipment these days we have to.Use what was taught in the license classes and from your elmers.

Re: Does anyone have the KD8CEC 5 inch nextion files?

I have it at home and will retrieve it shortly. Works nicely in the InKits enclosure. Make sure you have a separate power supply. The regulator on the Raduino will get to hot with a 5 inch Nextion. (The big Nextion also produces a little bit of its own noise, a whine, in the audio noticeable when the RF gain is turned down. Buffer capacitors on the power line don¡¯t help. Does anyone have a fix?)

Re: Farhan's Analog Again The Daylight Radio

No,
The power transformers are not. I am working at it though. I will probably update this design in a few weeks. I also need to add CW to the rig.

Re: Sbitx group

I agree.
We need a separate group for the sbitx since it encompasses more than just basic qrp operation. raspberry pi programming,,development, etc. Needs a separate forum so the ubitxers can still press forward with their rigs.

The only issue with editing the topic by adding the #hashtag is that it does start a new thread.? The path to all of the history is lost in the thread.

Here is the original tune-up page.? You would follow the same method as the v4 that this was written for.
