I want to work qrp out in the field... I want to have a worry free experience? without worrying about a threat of citation from the FCC. Since this equipment is sold commercially,? I fear reprisals could occur, and I am looking for solutions to those problems prior to ordering.

Should I wait to buy a ubitx?

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

Hi everyone! The question is should I wait to buy a ubitx due to the problems with version 5 with regard to suppression?? I have the Nextion display and case on order and have around $150 invested in it so far.??

Thanks & 73,

Kelly K5AID?

Looks good. I made a few adjustments and fixed the mem screen. I want to run it on my rig before I send it back up. Are you aware of any other errors?

Re: The Iambic Mouse

Thanks, Curt. You've triggered some valid input here.
Here in Enzedd we have have (at least) two celebratory event that correspond : SKN (Straight Key Night ) and QLF ( Cue Left Foot). Enjoy.
Never really used CW myself, though I had a top-notch teacher (George Studd ZL2AFZ, DX Ranger). Grade I ticket here was VHF-only, and that kept me entranced for years until a neighbour needed an HF link to the bush (possum-trapping on the Wild West Coast). I made a pair of 80m rigs in ammo cans - AM & CW Tx, DC Rx - and we got our Grade II together (10 wpm IIRC). Never went beyond that, my best DX was from there, Aussie on 2m (Tropo duct).
Just a FYI, all: 'there' was 1000'ASL (and not much more inland), and the duct corresponded with a huge intense anti-cyclone (atmospheric high-pressure zone) over the Tasman Sea. I swung the Yagi North and the duct took me to the 'top' of the North Island. Wish I was still there in some ways: an even greater 'High' has persisted here for a month or more. Tropo to Oz should be real 'bonza'! Unfortunate side-effect: climate change. Drought in some places, crops and livestock suffering, livelihoods devastated. Aussie's bushfires now happening here!

Re: AGC Pre-Oders are in and built!

Looking forward to your results as well! Our hope is that it is still drop I'm compatible with the V5 board and from the pictures we have seen it should be. However like any honest person we definitely want to make sure that it is right before advertising it as such!
During installation on the V5 if there are any questions please just ask!!!

Thanks Jim! ?My vacuum tube SB102 was built the same way. ?I¡¯m guessing this accounts better for other unsymmetrical things in the circuit outside the diode¡¯s

I would start with a pair of fixed-gain op-amps to bring the voltage up to where your test equipment
can measure it reliably.

The carrier and spurs will be appear to be higher if the tx gain (controlled by RV1) is running flat out. it is best to reduce this to about 60% of the full gain. A way to know this is to connect a 50 mv audio signal to the mic, transmit SSB on 7 MHz and reduce the power until it is around 7 watts.

Re: Sending perfect CW via PC

Brutus, I have rechecked. And I stand corrected: the simple optoisolated interface (4N25 and usb-serial converter) works perfectly too. Evidently, when I checked this before, an audio jack adapter was not doing a good contact. Damn!

Ditto for a winkeyer clone.? ?I think the difference is that I had wired mine for a straight key in the first place?

L2 is not properly soldered, check continuity on the board and resolder. If that does not help
check L1.

A Full Screen 3.5 #nextion

Others like myself have wished for a TFT file for the 3.5" Nextion screen that fills the whole space. While there are a few out there, they don't mirror the "original" format that we know and love (CEC version).?

This is a work in progress though it seems to work well enough to share for further tweaking.? I'm no programmer per se though by using some graphic arts thinking, I've put together the attached. There are a few little errors here and there, so, if you know more than I do or have learned something I've not fell over yet, please feel free to add corrections or tell me how to correct it.? For instance: on the page for recalling a memory entry to VFO, there is a button that should say, "READ" (top row, left of the Frequency mask). The active button is there but it's behind the background fill picture, and needs to be brought to the foreground.

This started as the widely-available "3.5" screen file that doesn't fill a 3.5" screen, and was manually increased by 150% on the horizontal axis and by 133.3" on the vertical, picture by picture and block by block, with things shifted around for spacing and fit - and the font sizes increased in most cases.? It pays to be anal-retentive and O.C.D. just sometimes.

Have fun!
