Re: ND6T AGC and Click kit wiring notes

Alan,

I was looking through my unbuilt uBITX kit and found two more AGC boards which I was using for "try for fit". So when your check/letter arrives, I can send you 2 AGC mini-kits. The total cost would be $5 which includes postage so I'll refund the rest.?

I today sent a check for 3 AGC mini kits $15 plus $5 for shipping

ubitx and case for sale

BobS KE0REM

As a new technician class ham, I thought the ubitx would be an inexpensive way to get started in the ham hobby.? Unfortunately, as the ripe old age of 75, my mind has trouble wrapping itself around the concept of raduinos and the programming thereof.? I have decided that I probably need to start with a transceiver that doesn't take so much of a technical education so need to find a new home for my ubitx.? It is a V3 purchased in May of this year, serial number looks like 88115.? It is currently installed in a maroon case from amateurradiokits.in.? Price shipped to you would be $140.00, and if you also desire a new Uniden BC645 electret mic, that could add $13.00 to the cost for $153.00 total.
Anyone interested?
Bob

Re: ND6T AGC and Click kit wiring notes

I have 5 of the (VA3NOI) ? ND6T AGC boards . ?These are Through the Hole boards.

These are Free ---I ?only ask that you e-mail me first as there are only five. Just need a self dressed stamped envelope after that.Stateside please.

Small amount so it's a single board only per request.

E-mail is----(W2HK) @arrl.net?

Also wanted to add how much I have enjoyed the Ubitx and the forum.

ubitx CW straight key wiring

I've gone through 2 rounds of blowing finals before I finally found it mentioned that the wiring in the manual for the CW straight key was wrong.
It is also wrong on the website ........
The resistor and blue wire must be wired to the upper right terminal in both pictures for it to work properly.
With the wiring as pictured my keyers essentially shorted the ring to the sleeve, hard keying the rig.

I would set up my keyer - plug it into the jack on the ubitx, then power the ubitx up,
unaware that as soon as I powered up, the ubitx was keyed until the finals finally fried.

This is the reference from the same web page mentioning the error in the schematic:
"There is an error on the circuit diagram and the wire up instructions for the CW Key.? The
diagrams show the key connected to pin 2 of the key jack. Pin 2 is the RING terminal, not the TIP."

Just wanted to put this out there in case anyone else is going through similar frustration.
I was so frustrated that I was ready to scrap my ubitx.

Re: ND6T AGC and Click kit wiring notes

Sure, Nick. Have at it and good luck to you. Both have been quite popular boards.

I have had several reports from European folks attempting to access my web store and failing. Probably related to the EU privacy debacle.

Would it be OK for me to use this design to produce and supply blank boards to the ubitx community? I will do these at cost price...

Cheers.

Re: Anyone with a Raduino for the uBITX version3 for sale?

HI Roger.
If you don't come right with your original Raduino, I can supply you with one of my RaduinoI2c boards ready made and loaded with KD8CEC firmware...

Email me for further info, or check out my blog, .

Re: Anyone with a Raduino for the uBITX version3 for sale?

Hi Rodger,
Your situation fits a classic Electrical Over Stress signature, which seems to be occurring often on these Raduinos.
I don't know how the were handled up to and including the recipient. Mine wasn't shipped in ESD protective packaging. :(

First thing you should do is read/dump out of the stored settings/data in the EEPROM.
You most likely will want the calibration data to lessen future headache.
One way to do this is to load IAN's firmware and use the BITX manager software to read the data.
Alternately, you can write a sketch to read EEPROM and print to a console / save the output.

It's not too hard to remove the Arduino NANO and replace with another one.? Much cheaper than buying another Raduino.?
Nanos from China are in the $3 USD range.? Many threads on BITX20 on 'how-to' replace the Nano.

If you are wanting to move forward right now, you can comment out the CW read pin section in the sketch (no CW) or use the unused A7 pin for? the keyer. (I _think_ that's the purple wire on the 'digital' pigtail)

Many good choices to 'upgrade' the micro-controller, but I would get my stock configuration BITX working first.

I know this reply is vague, if you need / would like future coaching, there are many here to help.
I will do my best to answer any questions.

Regards,
Gary

Well done Kees and thanks. I agree the moment has come to call "Time". Having the gerbers available will enable others to have boards produced if required, including future group buys.

A total of 864 AGC and/or Click mini-kits have been shipped so far. This is way more than i expected but that's OK .....popular circuits Don, ND6T, came up with.? Presently, I have about 20 AGC boards left from the last EasyEDA board order and about 100 Click boards left. It's been fun but it's time for me to do something else (like the SWR/Power meter as described earlier).

The new Ver 4 uBITX boards have the Click problem fixed. Therefore, after the last available AGC mini-kits have been sold/shipped, I'm going to quit and pass the torch to someone else. Order rates have dropped off some, so maybe everyone who wanted a mini-kit has one ??

The AGC board and Click board Gerbers have been uploaded to the files section under my call.

"On order" and "shipped" information is available in the "Files" section under my call.

It is exciting to think about and plan mods.? Do yourself a favor, get it working completely stock first.? That way if anything does not work you have less to troubleshoot.
