Re: #v6 question on uploading software #v6

Thanks Andy, that is helpful.? What I was looking for was instructions on how to apply the latest version to my uBITX.? Do I need specific software (IDE?) or am I just downloading the file, and dragging and dropping it somewhere?? Maybe extract form the zip, then drag and drop.. I don't know.? Not planning on editing the code at this point, just want to know how to get it onto the uBITX.? Maybe if I plug in the usb and download the latest version it will be more obvious?

Re: Buying v6

GigaParts has the uBITX V6 full kit for $209.? That includes shipping.? I purchased one
and it came quickly.? Its firmware is version 6,1.

Some thoughts that may help.

1? As Mark says, 800mA without modulation sounds about right, you will be able to detect some residual carrier (carrier leakage) on a nearby receiver.? This will give you the peep you are talking about.? As Evan says check the CW/USB setting.? Measure the current and output power in both CW and USB modes, post the results here.

2? I would not start with checking the transmitter, you really need the receiver to be working correctly first, it's especially important the BFO frequency is correctly set, this has to be done using the receiver, the links Evan sent you are the ones you need.

3? My guess at your fault, and it is only a guess, is the that the BFO is off slightly and there is something wrong with your transmit audio, maybe the? microphone ot connections BUT with you having limited test gear it's difficult to tell.? You must get the receive correctly first.

On your power input, do you have a fuse on the incoming supply???

Hope this helps

Re: ubitx v6 start up

What are you using for a power supply, an unfiltered power supply is capable of putting rf into the radio, locking it up.?

Re: Nextion cec sotware problem

I had similar issue when trying to compile for the Enhanced display.? I believe it has to do with the updated Nextion editor, though I could be mistaken.? I was able to load one of the previously compiled tft files for the Basic display onto a microSD card and then transferred to the display.? The Enhanced tft from the same GitHub files did not work on the Enhanced display, not sure why.?

If I were to guess, I would bet that one or more of the routines that the Nextion screen manager uses has grown, and the display was maxed out under the old development, so that when the original files are recompiled there is not enough room for the application.

Above are just guesses, I have not gone back to the older development environment to verify that.?

Re: #v6 question on uploading software #v6

On the read me of that zip folder it tells you how to place the file folder and rename it. I did mine the other day following that read me ?and it worked. But i did not use arduino to load the file, i used xloader to load the hex.?

Nextion cec sotware problem

Well a bit of a back story ?i just got my ubitx v6 and after messing with it for a few days decided to do the nextion conversion with the cec software.?

Here is were i ran into issues. The screen i got is a 2.8 basic?NX3224T028. I found the software on github and downloaded the files. Now when i open the files on the nextion program when i either hit compile or load both with the screen connected and disconnected i get an error. I do not know the exact error from top of my head but it was along the lines of insufficient ram. And it referred to the page with the qr code. So i deleted it and then it started giving me an error to a page referring to the url for the qr code. So i deleted this line. After that i was able to compile/ load the file into the screen, and everything seems to be working fine, except i do not have the qr code backup option(because i deleted it).

Has anyone ran into this issue, or know a work around this? I think it has to do with the size of the information on the page, but i do not know were to start.?

I also tried this on different files for different size screens and they all gave me the same error. I got the files from:

You might want to set up a git hub account for yourself. It is common developer collaboration type system for collaboration. Ashhar has a github account where he posts his latest versions (busy a lot so sometimes it takes a bit of time to see an update. Reed also has his. If you download theirs' or anyone elses custom codes the full file (ie .ino may be inside a zipped archive) is what you need, although you can sometimes just upload a hex file into the nano but with hex files on a windows PC you need a program called Xloader I believe it is called. It will upload a complete hex file into the nano. If you are working with the .ino main file then you want to use Arduino IDE software package to be able to open it and view all the associated modules and code. Once loaded into the IDE package and you are happy with code changes you made then you can use that IDE WUI to check basic compile syntax and compile it uploading the compiled package to the nano from the IDE. You can also choose option to export complete set of project files (ie .ino master file and associated hex files to save them.

It appears the guys have a file naming convention that describe version info in the files they offer out to those using the git hub account.

So in short to be able to work with code at whatever stage of file you have;

1. download and install Arduino IDE developers package

2. download Xloader

3.set up a git hub account for yourself if you are planning to code a lot and maybe collaborate with others

If someone emails you an att hex file save it to your PC and point Xloader at it to install it into your nano:

If you get or are comfortable developing your own or making changes to an ino package you download from others' git hub accounts they save that downloaded file and point Arduino IDE at that file to load or open it to view code modules or make changes of your own; then compile and upload to the nano and or back up the work as a exported file set.

Hope this clears things up a bit.

Re: Ubitx 6.1 questions

As far as loading the software into the nextion the best way i found is using an fti cable. In my case i used my baofeng programming cable. I just ran wires from the jack to the nextion temporarely. You only need to connect tx, rx and ground. To the cable and 5v and ground to power the screen.?
I am planning on sourcing a more permanent solution so i can load the screen software while its mounted on the case.?

Re: Uniden microphone and uBITX v5 #v5 #ubitx-help

Looks to me like black is ground (sleeve), yellow (tip) is mic, and red is PTT (center).

Re: V6 Baofang Mic Replacement

The electrets were like 6$ on amazon for 20.?

Re: V6 Baofang Mic Replacement

I used the 10mm electrets from amazon and soldered them in the mic. The mic element in yhe baofeng is 6mm. You will have to modify the mic enclosesure for it to fit. I mounted mine to were the mic element comes to outside of the case flush. Definetly made a big improvement. I¡¯ll post a pic if i can figure out how.?

Re: ubitx v6 start up

Try going into the setup menu and doing a screen calibration. That was needed on one I was playing with.

Re: ubitx v6 start up

!! volts may be too low. Try for at least 12.5 .
