TFT Raduino upgrade for V3 uBiTx ?

I have an early V3 that I have managed to kill the Si5351 so was wondering if it is possible to upgrade the raduino to the new V6 type. My eyes are not good enough to replace the si5351. I have sent an email to hfsignals about 2 weeks ago, but have not received a reply.
Failing that are there any other raduino replacements out there that are worth considering?

Re: V5 arrived in time for Christmas - wish I had known about v6 #v5

You have a excellent photo of the supplied microphone posted here. Out of the two terminals of the microphone if you observe one of it has 3 connections going to the aluminium body of? the microphone (In the photo the upper connection) That is the ground connection and without anything ( The bottom connection) is its live witch should goto the pull up resistorI suggest that if you have a shielded cable at hand then the outer beading should go the terminal going to?? the ground and the center conductor to the non connecting terminal. You can verify the grounding terminal of the microphone by continuity test by multi meter

?

At 78 years old I share some of your concerns.? The earlier BITX and now the uBITX

units include working with smaller components, different components, and different

techniques than what we did in older times.?

?

(1)? Do a Google search for images of component names that you do not recognize.

That is the electret microphone that you ask about.? You will need to solder leads to the

two solder pads shown.? One of those solder pads is connected to the shell (use a

magnifying glass).? Brace your hands on the work surface to steady yourself and

maybe clamp the device to keep it from moving.?

?

(2)? Electret microphones contain an internal FET amplifier that needs power to function.

Checking the schematic for your uBITX you will see a resistor and capacitor that make

up the power-T for powering the electret mike.? Electret microphones normally put out

up to 45 millivolts of signal voltage.? Older crystal microphones might provide similar

outputs but a dynamic microphone probably will not.? If using a dynamic microphone

you will probably need a DC blocking capacitor to keep the electret voltage from

damaging your dynamic microphone.? Since the electret microphone pulls down on

the voltage supply resistor you may need to add a resistor across the microphone that

helps to center this voltage in order to preserve full waveform audio at the mike input.

?

(3)? Antenna matching is more critical with MOS-FET finals than it was with tubes.

Your antenna should be pre-tuned so that it provides close to a 50 ohm impedance at

your operating frequency (all your operating frequencies).

?

Hope some of this has been helpful.? Us old timers have to stick together if we are to

survive in the new electronics environment.

Hi folks. W5ALX here, name is Alex. Just got a v5 in December, and started to build it. Wow. My eyes and hands are 68 3/4 YO, and though I consider myself "intermediate" (licensed in 1979, now Amateur Extra Class), I am a small bit daunted by this kit.
I do like it, but it is slow going. A few questions, which I am sure have been answered ad nauseum, but I cannot find the answers.

First, the microphone. I have what I think is the mic in the kit, but it has no leads.?

There it is, on the solder roll.?It has no leads! I do not know if, with my eyes and hands (they shake a little) if I can get leads on it. Anyone have any experience?

Next, must the mic be electret, or is the radio compatible with dynamic mics? Thinking a big old D-104 "Chicken Choker" (no not really), but no, I do have an old Radio Shack mic that went to one of their Ham rigs of the 1980's, which I think to be electret, but not sure. It has the Icom/Kenwood/BaoFeng type plugs.
I look forward to getting it on the air, and as soon as I can, I am buying the V6 already assembled!
TIA for any and all input, and please be gentle with this "Old Timer" - the last kit I worked on had large "transistors" made of glass, and the connector strips were big enough to wrap a 14 ga wire around before soldering!

To do what? Your board was awesome, it has what I needed on it including the RF gain. I could just go the easy digi route but that kit you made was the coolest. You should consider running more.?

Re: bitx v6 is here

Looks like I'm going to have to wait a bit longer to get a V6.? DHL claims they delivered on 12/26 (ordered 12/15), but no package to be found.? Neighbors don't have it.?
