Re: Need Help Troubleshooting UBit-X
#ubitx-help
I will be following with interest.??
I managed to trust the connector wiring of the power wire loom, and should have not, as it had power and ground reversed at the connector, and I shot reverse polarity into the works.? Transmit works, Raduino Works, but no audio.?? Hopefully I will be able to repair.? It is gonna push my sight, eye-hand coordination, and desoldering/soldering skills to replace SMDs, but I'm game for a good try.?? |
Need Help Troubleshooting UBit-X
#ubitx-help
Hi Group: I am getting no audio out of my ubitX and have tried the suggestions posted here in another string. 1)? RX has +12V at R18 & R38. 2) TX is low at R28 and R40 3)? I have tried SPH out direct to an 8 h\ohm speaker with no results 4)? I M1 to Vol-M with no results. I have checked voltage to the TDA8222 chip and VCC is present. Still, no audio whatsoever. I have the uBit-X schematic, and have a scope, signal generator and signal tracer, and am wondering if test point voltages and wave forms might be posted somewhere?? Has any collected this information and where I can access it? Thanks in advance. - andy, KD3RF / VE2DXY |

I got excited and damaged my pre-arduino VFO but managed to do what this cat does here. Get an Arduino (or whatever micro-controller) and this si5351 card all for less than $20 shipped if you try hard enough. It worked well until I operated in a thunderstorm. Don¡¯t ask. I¡¯m doing another with an Arduino Nano and adafruits version ? |

Hi Tom, et. all,
Nice project, Bob... I am rebuilding my homebrew amplifier (I use it with my K2) and would very much like to incorporate auto filter selection.?? I have 7 filters rather than 5, so would need to add 2 more output? lines.? Also, an additional output would be great to enable the amplifier a few 10s of msec after filter relay output is stable -? to avoid hot switching. Is there any more detailed information about the circuit / schematic?? ...Pinouts, etc. It has been many decades since my last C programming and I am really rusty (so rusty the brain is seized) also I am Arduino ignorant.?? But, from looking at the code, it appears these might be do-able, just not sure. Would like to get more info...? My email is good at qrz.com... Thanks, Woody?? KZ4AK |
Re: atenuator
Yes, attenuates signals on receive by positioning them on the skirt of the 45mhz crystal filter.

Might also be used for SSB transmit ALC if you are into that. Idea originated with VK2ETA ? ??/g/BITX20/message/51909 Jerry, KE7ER On Tue, Jan 22, 2019 at 07:35 AM, d balfour wrote:

Yes Evan, ?That is what I too observed. I wonder whether it has some thing to do with Calibration? So set up straight key and the time to stay on before reverting to Rx? and is wonderful? ..doh !!! Thanks for your patience 73 Geoff |

Nothing much. Attenuate 0 should mean the same of it being OFF. Raj At 22-01-19, you wrote:

Re: Recieve audio

rarely can we blame a mechanical connection for diminished audio - and you can certainly press on the connection to confirm.? is the CW sidetone still loud?? that would confirm part of the audio path - meaning then any issue would be in front of where it is injected.? we could possibly blame a degraded solder connection somewhere.? most of us find speaker audio in the V4 to be a bit light, but headphone audio is vigorous in most modern headphones (at least the ones I have).? as for boosting audio - I am using an external audio filter for CW/SSB filtering - and it ends with a LM386 to further boost audio.? well sometimes in inject signals to trace low receive audio - but usually before this I take my finger along the path just connected to the antenna - and often I find the issue when I touch it.? never a bad idea to check external RF cables - that was cause of my last similar issue.? Firstly I am thinking socket or plug wiring problem. Check by directly connecting a speaker to the two speaker leads from the board. Next maybe some component failure in audio amp. Connect an external amplified speaker to the top and bottom connections on the volume control and see is that is OK. If that is fine then you have start checking audio amp voltages. Then I got creative, I played around with the supplied socket to get it to work as described, it was wired exactly as shown in the instructions picture, to no avail. I then noticed I had lost 75% recieve audio. I fitted a mono socket instead of the supplied socket, to no avail, I can hear close stations, but they are very quiet. On Nextion screen attn is on zero, not that. I have spiked or over loaded something pushing the speaker plug in and out of the socket, but what? |

I can transmit 10 watts on 20M with good audio so don't believe transmit is a problem. Has any one, any ideas just what I have spiked, or missed, and how to rectify the fault, Please John Graham ZL4RO |
Re: ubitx or bitx 40
The ubitx is an impressive value for the price and a learning tool at the same time. Should be a requisite to pass the exam!!! :) Il 22/gen/2019 09:23, "atlasstuff" <g4fph@...> ha scritto: Dave, |
