Re: Ubitx versus other rigs

Now, let's make a field test. ?1 mile up you favorite dirt road (with chuck holes). Set up where there is a good tree to string a wire (your favorite kind). Set up radios, turn them on. Collins- won't work no AC, HW101 Won't work No AC uBitx works connected to car battery. ?Winner and still champion out in the field: uBitx!

?

That's kind of a fun comparison. Things have sure changed in radio. ?The uBitx is pretty darn affordable compared to any radio!

Re: #arduino #arduino

Hiro,

Switch off power to be safe. If some problem is there while programming then try unplugging the Raduino.

I have not had any problem with programming even with power on the board!

Hallo Elmar,

Thanks for posting the part number.? I'm not even finished wiring mine and the encoder button has stuck in.? I'll wire a secondary button temporarily for bring-up, but it is nice to know where to get another encoder!

Re: Troubleshooting decoder

Ok. I had the same issue and replaced it with the part from Digi Key that I pasted to this note. It works great now. The encoders are fragile so I bought 5. I tested mine out of the unit with a continuity tester via DMM. The side with the three pin outs is what I used. Center is common or ground or whatever electronics guys call it today. So connect the meter to center and top pin and rotating should show short, open, short, open..... Do the same with respect to the bottom pin and same outcome. Mine was constant open on the bottom pin out. While your at it connect to the pins on the other side and it should act like a momentary switch.

Thank you for placing your order with Digi-Key!

I'm curious what you are using for an antenna or aerial.

I would tune to 7076 (in LSB) to listen for some tones called FT8 (decodable using WSJT-X software). Popular digital mode right now. You could tell if the Bitx40 was at least receiving. It's where most of the 40m activity is around me.

We were writing at the same time last night. I would definitely change the pot. I burned up one wiring the 5V to the wiper that way.

As some other have mentioned, a blue LCD with no writing or numbers may need the contrast pot adjusted. Also would need adjustment if the letters are white blocks or rectangles on blue.

I know I have to take a break for a week from time to time when I get stumped.

Best of luck to you Heinz.

Re: Basic board test: 130ma @ 12.5 volts #ubitx

Do plug in the raduino and wire it up properly before measuring the current. You may even damage the board as many digital lines would be afloat.

Hello!! New uBitx V4 builder here.? Instructions call for a plain board power up with no connections beyond power Jack. So I have no plug in cables at all. No ardunio. Nada. zip attached.? Re: #bitx40help #radiuno #bitx40help #radiuno

Greetings, Heinz!

There is a square blue preset potentiometer on the Raduino board. It adjusts the Contrast - the percentage of time the screen's characters are lit or dark. It is often left set? to 'lit' as new, but adjusting it cannot damage the Raduino ...

Hopefully helpfully,

Re: Mike element

I have been playing with electret mics and using one that has has -24 dB output. This is :

Note that 0dB = 1V/Pa. If you look at some of the specs of other elements, they have typical sensitivities from ~ -40 to -30dB. There is a huge range....

Guten Abend Heinz,
Anschliessend sollte man alle Verbindungen pr¨¹fen.

Hallo Elmar,

undefinierbarem L?rm an, wenigstens etwas.

Du hast das Board gewechselt ?
Also die gro?e Platine ?

ADE-1-24

¿ªÔÆÌåÓý

With the original ADE-1,?pin 1,6 is?a coil, from where pin 5 is the center tap of the 2nd coil of the same transformer.
Same for pin 3,4 and?pin2.
?
Now, the ADE-1-24 has the following configuration.
pin 1,6 and pin 2
pin 3,4 and pin 5
?
Basically, ADE-1-24 pin 2 and 5?belong to the?other transformer with respect to the ADE-1
?
If you connect the ADE-1-24 as if it is the ADE-1, you will get other impedances / reflections / suppressions / mixer losses.
Other that that, it?might still work.

So here I am again with a brand new problem:

the raduino display only is lightend, but there is no more information.
What happend : I made any experience with the raduino and the power regulator, I connected
a PI Filter with 2 capacitors and on resistor 10 Ohms but only 1 Watt, the resistor crashed
and the power regulator 7805 on the raduino board crashes also.

So today I bought a new regualator and asked the specialist in the electronic shop how to connect it
and protect it. He sold me a new 7805, two ceramic capasistors of 100 nF, a diode and 1 resistor 10 Ohms
2 Watt.

I properly solderd all the parts correctly, but it is the same as after the crash, the display gets lightend
but shows no longer any information

What can I do, is there any way to get a new raduino ore how can I fix this problems

Re: Soft for mBITX transceiver

Dear Barry thanks for warm words. I do have now Arduino 1.8.5 programm. But I do not have knowledge how to programm the arduino nano and what more I can't collect among the words the file with the sythesyzer 5351 programm - I mean simply take file and put it to loading programm. I see words and steps. + my English is not too good to catch all detales. Many thanks George.
