Can't get my uBitX to transmit CW on the Dial frequency

Hi All,
I've been puzzled by this for a while now...
Why my uBitX doesn't transmit CW on the frequency on the dial?
I'm using Ian's CEC Firmware V1.08.
On TX the dial frequency is offset by the amount set in the "CW Tone" menu setting, so I'm really transmitting on the Dial freq. + or - the CW sidetone setting, depending on the mode (CWL or CWU) I understand that is the audio frequency of the sidetone and the audio frequency of a CW signal perfectly at Zero beat, so we need to RECEIVE a few Hz up or down to be able to hear anything on CW but I don't get why it's not transmitting on the dial frequency?
Shouldn't all these settings affect just the sidetone and the CW receiving freq? Why is it offsetting the TX freq by that amount of the sidetone? is it a bug?
What am I missing here?

Thanks
Dan.

I downloaded the software on the Nextion site but have not loaded it yet to check it out. Thanks Dr Ian for all your great work.

Re: Instruction Manual needs revision #ubitx

Jon,

Your manual is well written and easy to follow. If setting the
calibration and the bfo interact, you may need to add a note in the
manual that repeating the setup again may be needed because of the
interaction. Because of the various software out there I'm not sure
which loads might require this and which might not.

I would also put in a note that after power is applied to the ubitx you
should probably wait a few minutes (ten maybe?) for everything to
temperature stabilize. The crystal for the SI5351 will change frequency
slightly as the ambient temperature changes in the case.

Re: Variable Power Out

Have you thought about lowering the audio signal you have feeding the
ubitx? I know I can vary the output power a lot with my two-tone
generator by just cranking the amplitude pot on the generator up and
down.

Re: Power supply question

A couple of 5amp or 10amp Silicon diodes (5 watt rating) will give you a
voltage drop of about 1.2v or 12.6v feeding the board.

I had to crank up my power supply to 15.1v to get a consistent 12v out
of a 7812 feeding the mainboard.

If you wanted to be extra careful, you may want to put a 12v voltage
regulator like a LM7812 inline with the main board's power.? The PA
power line (brown wire, IIRC) can run off the higher voltage just
fine and may get you a bit more power even.

Yes its a significant issue.? ?When tuning the 28 to 29 mhz range the spur falls in the

A lot of people use a T- type tuner to connect to their feedline; these might provide a bit of filtering of the lower undesired frequency.
