Bitx-40 No transmitter out
Hi all,
Went to use my bitx-40 and found no RF power output, started by checking the voltages on the IRF510, drain voltage was there, next check voltage on gate, zilch, nothing, narda. Next check voltage to 78L05 regulator, yes 12.5V, check output, no 5V, next visual of regulator, looks like solder has not taken on the input pin:-( Difficult to see without a magnifier. Re-solder the input pin, the output of regulator is now 5V, transmitter output restored. Semiconductor devices are very reliable if their maximum limits are not exceeded, most problems are usually related to connections in one form or another. I suspect the junction between the solder pad and regulator had oxidized making the classic dry joint. Alf vk2yac |

Bitx enclosure
at?Rapid3dprinting4u@... for info 73 art Hi everyone. New to the page. I have made a couple boxes here lately for some local people and was wanting to offer my service to anyone needing an enclosure. ?I'd like to thank ?Ady Cattell for a nice design for this radio kit. I can do Blue, red, orange, white, and black. Pm for more details and a quote. Located in Vancouver, ?wa. |
BITX40
I built a BITX40. It has a clicking noise in the audio different from the clicks from the Raduino when tuning. It appears to be a problem in the front end. When I first connected the antenna there was a great increase in band noise. When I can somewhat ¡°tune¡± a signal, it is just wide band grunting noise when the person talks. I¡¯ve made a movie of it and can post if anyone is interested.
Fahran said it may be the power supply so I switched to a 12 battery and still have the clicking. No real signal gets through. The audio works and the Raduino seems to tune frequency at least it reads 7.200 etc¡ Looking for suggestions. I built it in a plastic box so there doesn¡¯t seem to be a shorting problem. No cold solder joints. No loss toroids. Shortened all the cables and that did nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mark Underkofler W5MCU |

Thanks for that, I will have to go hunting parts then, should be fun as its years since I built something from scratch. The tips sheet is a welcome addition to my files, still looking for a decent enclosure, fancy re-cycling an old transceiver case. With mods to suit. Phil-G7BZD |

Thank you?Ashhar for this informations,,, I found the damage but not on the ?filters coils, but one wire was torn off ?from ?trifilar T4 coil. I will try to fix it, or I will do a new T4. And so as a curiosity, in better condition came BITX40 that was not packed in a plastic box .... but of course, something for something, we save on the shipping cost best regards Tom |

Hopefully having fun, and maybe learning a bit. ?Looking like your original thought of a bad Si5351 was probably correct. ?Let us know what you find out. On Sat, Feb 18, 2017 at 08:09 am, Goran VE6GPO wrote:
BTW, for the purpose of my troubleshooting, I unsoldered Nano and put a socket instead (less than an hour of a job). It's not a hard thing to do. But, I'll be putting it back as soon as I'm done tinkering and noodling. ? |
Re: AD 9850 DDS VFO ON BANGGOOD
Hi Larry, The difference is that the Indonesian xcvr is only about 1mW output so you will still have to add an amplifier. Also it's not a beginners project. There are quite a few mods for the kit on the facebook group page/s Regards Lawrence (9H1AV) On Sat, Feb 18, 2017 at 3:23 PM, Lawrence Macionski via Groups.Io <am_fm_radio@...> wrote:

Re: My next QRP rig..
If you get it running, I'd like to hear how performance and operating experience compares to the Bitx40 for casual SSB communications. ?Minimum price is $209, and then it's tethered to a computer plus soundcard. ?So not directly competing with the Bitx40.
