Re: sBitx Display

Scott,
The answer is yes. The sbitx is just another application running on the rpi. In fact,? the rtty, psk31 work that way : the fldigi handles them in the background.
The big challenge is the screen real-estate. Neither wsjtx, flidigi nor js8call work on smaller screens. I just dont understand why this was not considered in the screen layout. This is why sbitx had to skip the wsjtx suite and implement ft8 on its own.
The js8call is a particularly bad offender. It needs four large text windows at once.
At the end of the day, all the digital text protocols need one place to type your own text and one area to see the incoming text. Remember the chat on irc?

Hi Ashhar,

I have related but different display question.? I will do some experimenting once my sBITx arrives but here’s the question(s): does the Sbitx software “take over” the Pi or can you run another application at the same time and display that application on a second display?? From an earlier conversation, you stated that the sbitx can easily managed a JS8Call session because it is basically a FT8 protocol.? What would be great is if the Linux version of JS8Call could co-exist in the PI so the JS8Call interface could be used.? I may be smoking something but if if the WJSTX software can coexist on the sbitx, it seems like JS8Call software would co-exist in a similar fashion.

Or am I high?

?Thanks, Scott
