Thanks for your input Justin. In my case, the problem was definitely cased by the wrong orientation of the Nano pins, thereby causing a short to ground. Now that I have a new Nano onto which I have soldered pins in the same orientation as the original Nano that came with the uBitx, no further problems. In summary, the problem was not the current draw of the Nextion, but rather the short caused by the Nano not being oriented in the correct direction in its socket on the Raduino board.
