Wanted to share an update with the group as I've made multiple posts over the past year regarding BCI, filters, music, etc.? I finally did complete and install a BCI filter.? After having the uBITX v6 for over 1.5 years I FINALLY made my first contact (first ever HF contact).? It was 3km away! (about 2 miles, but km is a bigger number, hi hi!)
True story, but in all seriousness, I got great feedback on my audio and after that, I was able to make a few contacts and even DX to a contest station over 4,000 miles (not km) away.
Radio is working fantastic now!? I am enjoying it.? Mostly on 20 & 40 and the EFHW is working well on both bands.? Thanks for all the guidance here, though I'm not going anywhere and I hope to catch you on the air.? I need some more practice, so don't ignore all the weak signals in the General portion of 20 & 40 as one of them might be me :)
Side note: after installing the BCI filter i was still hearing garbage instead voices.? I found a very strong ssb signal on 20 or 40 and calibrated the frequency against that for best audio.? Based on reports I've gotten, I think it worked out quite well, though may not be the recommended approach.
