It is amazing the technology we now have available to us, either inexpensively manufactured or surplus equipment, nowadays. A good vacuum pump probably ?cost a fortune back then. Although my father built for me an air compressor built from a motor and a used belt driven refrigeration pump. That thing could pull some vacuum. Someone gave me some golf tees. I remember, as a kid, pounding them into the end of the 1/4 copper tube that came out of the compressor, turning it on, waiting as they built up pressure and then watch them fly like a bullet into a target (or the wall).?
100 years form now someone will be going on about how amazing technology is today, with both surplus and inexpensively produce state of the art things that can be teleported to us by QuantumBay, compared to when we were kids.
