Patients going on the ventilator certainly did not do well. But it may be for reasons that have little to do with the mechanics, and more to host factors, immune response modulation etc.
CPAP machines provide continuous positive airway pressure, that¡¯s the definition. There are some subtleties to how human ventilation works. The discussion is probably beyond the scope of this forum.
