They do get tested and calibrated, should just work.
Some customers report issues with calibration, they find they must re-calibrate.
Evan is currently investigating an issue with somewhat reduced power output on 40m, though this is not a major problem.
Occasionally boards that worked for hfsignals fail after shipment due to a cold solder joint or a short in one of the torroids,
but that seems rather rare.
Keep in mind that there are thousands of these rigs getting shipped.
When they work, there is seldom much said about it in the forum.
What you see here is mostly those customers that have found a problem.
