Arv and all,
I probably should not have started this.? Over the years this list has become almost like an online radio club to many, myself included, and it is easy to stray.? I read something that made me angry and I decided to share my frustration.? Here's how the two topics, BITX and this regulatory issue, tie together for me.? For the benefit of those that do not know the history, going back to Farhan's original design one of the goals has always been about getting SSB HF in the hands and ears of those who otherwise could not afford to do so.? Albeit a USA focused connection, seeing the final decision that by not that long of a stretch added $35 to a BITX kit, ?BITX kit or whatever ¡ÞBITX kit Farhan dreams up next will exclude a certain percentage of potential hams from getting started.? That bothered me and I thought it would create an interesting discussion here.? As an aside, I assure those that question my understanding of the legislative and regulatory process in the US I have a significantly greater understanding than a five word subject line conveys.? While not our standard convention, I assumed the warning in my subject would alert those that would be bored or offended.? As to starting a political debate involving poverty, socialism, and what not, while I should have seen it coming that was not my intention.
Happy New Year to all,
Doug

Wonder what the OP intent was to post this on the BITX20 group?? This group is focused specifically (and loosely) on support for those who have purchased, or are considering purchase of, the BITX20 transceiver from HF Signals and other BITX sources.? It seems that this terribly off-topic post would at best be boring to those outside the US, and could be offensive to some.??
There are many discussion groups that do focus on political arguments, but this is not one of them.
