I already know I have the Q90 problem with mine. I think the 2N2222 is a bit more robust but will install the protection diodes too. I haven't looked in mine..did you install the replacement on the bottom of the board or in the vacated spot left by the original part?
I will do the repair as soon as I locate my fire axe so I can remove the bad part.
