A quick check on the web show the Baofeng UV-5R HT reportedly puts out ~3V bias for the mic.? An easy check of the mic then would be to run it off a couple of 1.5V alkaline batteries and see how it sounds then.? Ground of battery stack to neg of mic and neg of signal out.? Positive of battery stack to 2.2k resistor to pos of mic.? Positive of 1uF electrolytic cap to pos of mic, negative of cap to positive signal out.
