The kit is basic, true, but look what you will pay for an Elecraft kit, or any other kit - MANY TIMES more.
You are getting a kit that will make a working QRP radio that you can use to talk to people all over the world.
Think - if a printed manual were shipped with it, or a CD, it would cost more. The maker has pared things down so that any Ham of any income level can have an all band radio that can be added onto and eventually collect a full featured station without having to shell out thousands just to get on the air.

if it was purchased recently, and has a LCD on its raduino - its likely a V5.? the frequency on the xtals in the large IF filter are another clue.?
a key modern trend is to not ship manuals via paper or CD anymore - much more economical to download these.?
also - you might react a bit by the minimal nature of the manual.? some sweat equity in thought is required.? but enough clues are available for successful assembly (aka wiring up the board with connectors).?
a key decision point is what enclosure you will employ.? if you provide your own - there should be enough connectors available to build your ubitx.? key advantage of v5 is that its spurious should be low enough, not needing the substantial mods of v3/v4.? it should be a nice rig when you get it assembled - enjoy the assembly journey - and explore how you wish to shape this into the rig you prefer (display type, accessories integrated - or not).? its a very nice rig even in stock form or nearly so as in my case thus far.?
one final thought - a little frustration seems universal in building a uBitx.? hang in there and enjoy the ride.? if you are really wondering 'where the case will come from' - check out or use your search engine to find other suppliers.?
