Sensitive to tune rate?? Guess what - that it is the way it is supposed to be.? At first I thought this is crazy - now I am okay with it.? While I expect to upgrade to KD8CEC some day - for now I am enjoying it as it is - while I work on the spurious etc.?
See if you are hearing DX on 40m before sunset, and that 80m is loaded with signals, many large.? Audio might seem scarce through a speaker, but plenty into headphones.?
