Evan, I use a baofeng mic from ebay, actually I was using signal link usb for FT-8 . I can control the audio level. I tried with minimum mic level but problem does not go away. In normal ssb mode ( when I am talking)? with baofeng mic the same problem. I will follow your instruction and let you know the result.
