Very true and saves a resistor,however the little pcb supplied with the metal case is wired for two anode resistors.Just personal choice I guess to achieve the same thing.? 73. M0IDR

Or, one can connect the anodes direct to RX/TX lines and use a single resistor from cathode to GND.
