Some merchants only ship via UPS or FedEx. Those don't do PO Boxes..except..out here they sometimes do. DHL always does. The fix is to give your address as the street number followed by a dash followed by the PO Box. Like this:
201 main street - PO Box 17
Rarely somebody has the same rant over my address. In the big city a postal employee lays your mail right in your hand. Out here we go to the post office to get it. The sellers in the big cities can sometimes not grasp that the rest of the world may be different.
Never mind about Hawaii and Alaska. United States possessions and territories are also served by USPS and the flat boxes are included. I have sent some goodies to hams in Guam in the flat rate boxes:) Sellers who have a 1938 view of the postal system are only hurting themselves. Their ignorance and arrogance might be their undoing.
