Forgive me, but I'm a little confused here, maybe moreso after reading the entire thread.
What is the difference between the 'rubbish' transformer and the proper one? Is it the toroidal version vs the binocular version? I've been considering putting together an EF antenna and I'd like to be sure not to build some rubbish. Can we relate this to the real world for those of us without EE degrees?
