I have not made comparative tuner studies. I have measured the loss of my standard MFJ roller inductor tuner when matched into a 2500 ohm loaf and found it to be well under a half dB. Your plan to put the tuner at the antenna feed point is the only correct option. Although with the EF there is little other option.?
In in my opinion you are making the optimum choice for deploying this antenna.?
