In Laymans terms would someone please explain the calibration setup for my ubitx on factory firmware??
My bfo was out and after checking with various AM stations like CRI and RRI, noticed it was off frequency by 150 Hz here¡¯s what I did given the really poor band conditions today!?
Firstly I tuned to 5.505 USB Volmet and adjusted the bfo setting untill the audio souded decent. (Around 11997.7 i think)
Then I noticed the slightly off frequency issue so tuned to an AM station on 11.635 USB. This was not zero beat as that would have been 11.635.150. I went into the calibrate menu and adjusted until I heard zero beat. Although this also brought the signal down somewhat! I saved and listened. The station seemed much closer to the frequency now (within 50hz) but quieter. This might be the bad conditions or have I upset something??
Next went back to Volment on 5.505 USB and checked the bfo again which seemed fine so I left it alone.?
Then I read about he USB/LSB trick on 7.040. I did this and I am hearing FT8 on both usb and lsb! So back to the drawing board...?
I¡¯m sure the ubitx is now seeming less sensitive but as I say with the conditions thats hard to say.?
You guys are probably going to tell me I have done it all wrong now! So if someone could tell me the correct procedure I would be very grateful?
