No one solution is going to be the right fit for all. The fact you can do what you need to do with the Nextion is great. Al and I chose a different display because we intend to have it "ready-to-use" out of the box and as inexpensively as we could for the given feature set. Those who are so inclined can tinker around with the code as they want. (I wouldn't mess around with the filter code too much as it's pretty demanding!) The UI is easy to modify if you have a little programming experience. If you don't have any...and I mean any...programming experience, I have a great book to suggest for you to read! A lot of hams who fall into this category are finding out that they really enjoy programming and it's become a new avenue to enjoy our hobby.
Knowing how to use the Nextion is simply another tool you can hang on your belt, and that's always a good thing!
