Current rating of diodes must handle 5 plus amps Note! ? Bridge rectifiers offer four high current diodes in a one package!?

1. ?Reverse polarity power hookup protection?
Adding a diode inside radio in series power lead could save your radio, as no current will flow threw diode when power leads are reversed.
2. ?The bad! ?You will waste power in voltage dropping diodes as heat.
P=IxE. ? ? 5A x 1.4V= 7 Watts in heat when transmitting?
Receive is much less. ?
If you wish to run your radio from a battery this is a not a good idea. ?It wastes power.?
