Re: uBITX - Sensible mods #ubitx

I have an old solid state rig by swan and have studied the schematic carefully. I've found that it has an internal bridge at output of the 200 watt broadband solid state amplifier it uses which is mounted on the back. I have looked at the uBITX power control circuit which is a simple RV1 potentiometer between the first little amp and the set of direct coupled transistor amps early in the circuit of the RF amp which becomes eventually a set of Mosfets. I'm thinking a little automatic control in that are would be very good as it would at a minimum "save" a few Mosfets and Fuses and protect the uBITX from bad swr antennas and shorts. A very small bridge at the output of the Mosfets would be necessary. The SWR voltage would be provided to a small mosfet at the output wiper of RV1. It could have its own pot so that it could be controlled so as to not eliminate output with relatively low swr voltages presented by a 2 to one or 3 to one swr. Or perhaps some sort of threshold circuit could be implemented. I'm working on this but if you work on this or have already done this, please let me know. N6GRG
