I've blown up quite some TDA2822 audio chips and they seem to be working on the edge of their ratings. My uBitx has a built-in speaker wired through a 3,5 mm jack which switches it off when a headphone jack is plugged in. It took me some time before out that this switching process cost me some TDA's. It's very likely the jack connector shorts the audio for a short periode while plugging in.?
Indeed solved by adding a series resistor.
