We are genera;;y habituated to listen thro both the ears.
?Thus the style to listen to mono symultaneously on both ears. Otherwiase one ear remai\ns silent to radio listening.
iMHO? the whole issue cropped up as members tried to use mono plug that has grounded the ring connection, thus short curcuiting the coupled Audio, where by the Amplifier started burning.
We can always have a small 10 ohm resitor on the battery line and decouple that to prvent buring , if it is beleived tobe due to 13.5, 13.8 or 15V poser supply.
Sometimes I wonder whether really these chips are that bad they blast off into pieces. I had such experience wit5h TDA but did not feel it due to original design.
I am sure that I did mishanle it accidentally shorting some pins.
?I would appreciate memnbers to recolle3ct the events just before the chip got fried.

Has no one tried changing the TDA2822 to the “bridge” configuration?
Wired to tip and ring there would be no ground connection and it would work with stereo or mono plug. ( I guess the phasing might be messed up with the sereo phones for voice)
?This is my replacement TDA2822L ordered through eBay. In the package was a folder from Tayda.
