The work he has done should have done nothing but INCREASE? ?"true confidence" and install new tricks and new wisdom.? ?Learned a huge amount about what he DIDNT KNOW and began to learn a HUGE AMOUNT about really fixing radios.? ?When I tried to get people
to build a very simple 1-transistor "vox" circuit to run push to talk on packet.............they just stared at me.? No clue how to read a schematic, no clue how to even connect resistor to diode to capacitor to base of transistor.....I was initially flabbergasted.?
?We spend over TWELVE HOURS getting that tiny group to build 6 or 8 circuits.? ?But they LEARNED and the systems WORKED and some are in use today doing AX.25 packet.??
Golly,? I think 3 or 4 of those folks passed the Extra Class exam just in the past few months.....and couldn't even recognize a resistor a year ago.??
We all have to learn somewhre.? Best to come up against our weaknesses, and then conquer them, as tausciam has been doing.? ?I really really think radios like this are good for ham radio.? Tausciam will soon get his confidence back, knows a ton more, will
be doing all kinds of things with it -- eventually he'll blow the final, and learn how to replace it....and maybe turn it into a computer controllable, etc etc etc etc.

This has gotten me so iffy that I'm not even going to take the raduino out of the one I bought (if it even has one) and plug it in....because I don't have the confidence that I won't somehow mess up both rigs.
