"On the sketches I've used, if I turn the tuning pot it does read on the display. I can tune up and down the band normally.
Would that not indicate that the tuning pot is working? Is there something else it should be doing??"
Ah, wonderful clue you point out.? ?So if the tuning pot is reading and controlling properly, that sounds like you've proven that wiring works.? ?That's really all it needs to do......
See the earlier messages --- Allard apparently has this wonderful sketch that will allow you to test a few other things (mostly related to the Raduino, however.....)
I'm enclosing a sketch that should FORCE your system to just about 7075 lower side band (where you may hear some FT8 or other stuff) ---?
a)? You can then use your communictions reciever --- you have a tool now that you're comfortable with!! -- to listen for the Raduino signal at 4.925 MHz.? ? (If I did my math right this should give you 7.075 MHz receive) --- check for that signal!!!!!!
b)? At that point you can begin to do the prodding tests with the wire that were shown in the youtube video.....
c)? Many of us are confused why you are measuring such incredibly LOW total current draws --- yet you have been hearing various clicks and pops in the speaker, suggesting that the system IS getting current....this remains a mystery.? ?If you're able to tell
us results from your "prodding tests" a la the you tube video -- and you and we both can look at the schematic and figure out where signals are going and what is being tested --- then we might figure out some more things.
d)? I have trouble FINDING things on the board, but the resistors and capacitors are WELL marked --- so by comparing to the schematic, you can use resistors and capcitors to find placed to check various voltages.? ?
Any other clues that you've discovered?? ?This is going to snowball---as you become more familiar with the board, the circuitry, and discover new things you can measure, your speed of diagnosing is going to grow and grow and at some point it will intersect
the "problem" that youre chasing.? ?
And you're welcome to ship it to me and I can fiddle at it or ship you a replacement, because EVENTUALLY....this is?
going to work.

That will give you another signal you can hunt for with your communications ?receiver. And it will force the receiver to work in the 40 m band. ? If you're able to hear the VFO ?signal at that point, then you'll be able to use the techniques in the video, ?to begin the Narrow down where the problems are. ? ?And you might investigate the tuning potentiometer to see if the wiring there might be an issue. On the sketches I've used, if I turn the tuning pot it does read on the display.
