Re: Help! I think I may have just ruined my 9 year old's Chanukah

Wait until this chap begins to learn digital and WINLINK ((if he doesn't already)) and discovers the BITx40 can easily do that --- the nice thing about winlink rms stations is that they are ALWAYS there, and you only need call them to find out if you can "reach" a certain area with the existing propagation. First time I tried it I hit three stations in multiple states with 4 watts output without much trouble.

We are going to use these devices tohelp newbies inour ARES group learn 80 meter ragchew and net operations, traffic passing and digital (psk31 and winlink) at very very low cost. Now that I've learned how to make them computer controllable (emulate an FT857d) the multiband uBitx can also do ALE (automatic link establishment) and winlink RMS---eg very tiny portable emergency RMS stations.

now what we all need is an inexpensive 50-100 watt multiband power amplifier. I have the dual-irf510 design but haven't been able to get to that yet. just too many projects going. Working on 3 digital packet repeters, 2 microwave systems, teaching baluns and getting our group ready for the Feb 24th Emergency Symposium we are hosting in Gainesville Florida....

Cheers --- gordon

Luckily, I think Chanukah is seven days long.
Even better yet, it's eight!
