Added a few bypass capacitors to the amp and bitx to tame down some of the free RF. After doing this, I noticed the receiver was "FMing", so I removed the capacitors I added to the bitx with no change. I changed power supplies with no change, and checked CW which was doing the same. Finally I caught a conversation about the band conditions. Lots of receivers were "fming" tonight. Some were calling it back scatter, or aurora propagation. It sure messed me up for awhile. Got all the bypass capacitors put back and was so mad about the whole deal, I just built up an agc board to plug in to the rig. As soon as I got it finished, I plugged it into the rig and contemplated powering it up. I may be some dumb, but I ain't plumb dumb, so I pulled the board and decided to let it ride the bench overnight so I can take a fresh look at my wiring before giving it the smoke test.?
