Ok guys, here is the public apology that you are wanting from me. ?This will be my only comment on this subject because no matter what I say some of you guys will pick it apart and want me to say something different. ?
Dear Mr Farhan, at the beginning of this thread I was very frustrated. ?I'm still very frustrated. ?Some of it is with the product that I received from your organization and some of it is with my own abilities. ?I was expecting to receive a board that I would wire up per your specifications and the radio would work, it would transmit and receive. ?Mine receives but does not transmit. ?This board was supposed to be the good basis for the start of something that could be hacked into what others might find more exciting than the base version of the radio. ?I believe that it's proven to be that for many people. ?I'm not a hacker so the best that I would probably do is take the intelligence of other individuals and incorporate their hacks under their direction into your design as they have done and shared with the group.
When I buy something at a local store or from most internet stores and it doesn't work, I return it and get another one. ?If I've followed the instructions for use and it doesn't work, I do not feel like it's my fault that they product does not work. ?If I exchange it and it works fine then all is well. ?Unfortunately in this case I haven't read anywhere where you have exchanged a defective board or provided something like a discounted replacement to get someone up and running. ?If I've followed your instructions for wiring and adjustment and my board doesn't work then I've received a defective board. ?Can this board be repaired, possibly....by me, that's not typically my specialty but who knows. ?Should someone have to repair something they receive that's defective? ?No, but some people might want to or like to, that all depends of what their skill set is and their level of comfort with a product. ?Many people feel very comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting into something like this and some people do not. ?Some people may simply not want to, we're all different. ?If the product works as people should expect it to, this does not become an issue.
At no time did I mean that your were defrauding me. ?Yes, I used the word "had". ?Had in my opinion despite other people's opinion to me means that I feel like I have made a purchase and had no recourse in the situation. ?If I bought something from Amazon and Amazon didn't at least offer to replace a defective product, probably 85% of the world wouldn't buy from them. ?I purchased your product through your site in which the translation is handled via PayPal. ?PayPal offers buyer protection. ? I am the buyer and I feel that I received a defective product. ?The product is not marketed as something that might need repaired even if you followed the instructions. ?Many people may welcome the chance at repairing something. ?I can't say that I do with certain things. ?My taking it up wth PayPal was to get them to ask you to refund my money, offer me a free or even a discounted replacement board to get my radio up and running. ?I was not expecting an Icom IC-7610 when I purchased this but I was expecting a radio that would at least transmit and receive after following your instructions. ?In step 8 of your wire up instructions you say, "Operate" "Go work some DX". ?Well, I can't. ?I can receive and that works pretty darn good but I can't transmit. ?Again, everyone's skill level or tolerance for troubleshooting is different. ?If I had built the radio and it worked 100% and then I started messing with it to the point that it didn't work then that's my problem, you designed it to work and I messed it up, that's my problem. ?That's not the case here, this hasn't worked 100% after following your instructions and checking them more than just a few times. ?
So if you've taken offense to what I said at the beginning of this thread, that was not my intention and I'm sorry. ?Like some people have suggested, I in no way meant that you were some sort of criminal. ?
I don't want to discount what I just said but I'm still sitting here with a radio that doesn't function that I feel should have and I'm going to try and put some more time into troubleshooting it. ?This is truly a sincere apology for some things that may have been taken in a way that I had never intended. ?I suspect that I will never hear from Mr. Farhan but for those of you that didn't feel that I ever apologized I'm hoping you can now move on. ?As I said in the beginning I will not reply about this unless I hear directly from Mr Farhan
