Hi Jack.
?
I have also been using Arduino clones for years but the only two I have
ever had problems with, connectivity-wise have been those used on the Raduino
boards.
I have two HFSigs Raduino boards and both have very poor USB sockets.
They are very tight to plug into and also seem shorter than normal so more
of the plug is outside the socket so to speak.
As I said in my previous post, both worked after a bit of extra oomph was
given to get the plug to mate with the socket.
?
I also agree with you that the extra cost for HFSigs to use genuine devices
would make the project far more expensive.
I've been using Nano
clones for years and have never had an issue. Is the clone causing an issue? If
it is, you can always cut out/desolder the cheap socket, buy a "real" Nano and a
quality socket, and reinstall it. I don't recall anyone having an issue with the
Nano itself or its socket. Also, I remember the genuine Nano was around $25. I
think I would be more disappointed if the BITX40 price jumped $20 than the fact
that a viable clone was being used.
