To answer your question, out of the box the Bitx40 is not intended for digital QRP. It's SSB only.? That's not too say that it couldn't be modified for some digital modes.

I have a question. I have my general class ticket. But no budget to speak of. Considering getting the bitx40, as I like the idea of hand assembled parts, and that getting the kit supports women in India who would have no means of support otherwise.
I am primarily interested in digital qrp on HF. Is this little radio suitable for this or is it only good for hand keyed CW?
