I have travelled all over the world, and I am convinced about the power of work to provide more than just an income. ?I have seen how microfinanced projects in India have allowed many women to take back some control of their lives, to gain an education, to gain skills, to regain their dignity. I bought the radio because of the economic model that is being publicized through the BitX40 project, not in spite of it.

You're treading on thin ice here, John. I have a Ph.D. in economics with a specialty in Labor Economics and there are real reasons for US wage differentials. There are also cases where women in the US make more than men for the same job. Clearly you haven't studied the topic in depthor studied the work by Herb Parnes and Belton Fliescher. If the wage differential in India is larger than the US, there may be a reason for that, too.
I would suggest that that you just accept the likelihood that some work is better than no work, especially in places where unemployment compensation virtually doesn't exist. This is not a proper topic for this group.

Do you understand those "willing workers" are Women? And in some parts of India Women make up 57% less than Men for the same jobs. In the U.S. Women make up to 20% less for the same job. Be cautious when someone points out something as being special. They're exploiting you or someone else, or both. It's great they are being given a livelihood. But at what cost to them? Even just marketing?a product as made by Women exploits the Women, and the buyer who wants to support women.
