for $5.50, as it uses the I2C interface. That means you only have two data lines to connect, plus power and ground. It leaves more I/O pins free for other things. Terry King runs the place and is good people. He also has software examples for the display on his web site.

The two things I did first was to change the green display to a blue one, and move the contrast pot to the back of the board so I can actually adjust it while looking at the display. It works perfect and is only off frequency by about 200Hz which I will calibrate once it's in the case. Well worth the additional $14.
