If you can build from scratch, I would recommend the LED/LDR combination from VK3YE:

I have built two of these for other hams.? Both worked well, in my opinion.? My current project is for another ham who provided the AmateurRadioKits AGC board to build and install.
?
If I can not improve the response, I will rip out the AmateurRadioKits board and put in another LED/LDR-based build.? The issue with the home-built board is fitting it into the case.? I will need to work out another scheme as a lot is already going into the case.
