?? Is your goal is to successfully use FT8 on the sBITX with an external app??

As you know, there are two common choices - JTDX and WSJT-X. Both of them will run in a Toobox medium size virtual screen or an external monitor. Of the two, I consistently see more decodes per cycle at about 1/3 the CPU load with WSJT-X. With JTDX I get "Error in AudioInput" when the band is busy and the PI cores max out. The audio transfer from sBITX app to an external app does take some processing power and when you max out the CPUs I think you can get a missed transfer. I don't see that error with WSJT-X with its much lower CPU load.

If your goal is something other than using FT8 then my comments don't apply, except to note that in contrast to your statement I consistently see more decodes per cycle from WSJT-X.
